Re people collecting things from home - be really careful - a friend of mine phoned me earlier while i was at bootie and said she had advertised something on gumtree and the person that turned up to buy seemed really shifty and asked to use her loo while there. 2 days later she got burgled and the police told her this is getting more and more common - . It might be worth arranging to meet somewhere public or get them to ring when they get to the end of the street etc then go and meet them. The police said not to let anyone you don't know into the house when coming to buy something! Sorry to put the wind up anyone but thought it was important to pass on! xxx
That is scary
its crazy that you have to triple think everything these days just in case you leave yourself open to being scammed/burgled/attacked etc.0 -

£55.55 from TCB for opening Santander 123 account. It says it takes 21 weeks and it has been exactly that I think. Really pleased it has come through, the account in itself, despite a £2 a month fee, is well worth having for cashback on bills and interest on money in it, so to get the cashback too is an added bonus.
It would have been £58 if I'd chosen to be paid in Love2shop vouchers but decided against that as I tend to spend them in the only grocery style shop, Iceland, and after to paying to park as needed, the difference is minimal, and wiped out by nectar points gained with bonus points from card on £55 shopping at Sains.
Can't believe how carefully I'm thinking about this!
I've scheduled 20 items on eBay, after more decluttering and my mum giving me a load of good clothes, including Jaegar. Picking up more stuff from mother in law, plus car boot table tonight.
It's good to see the results. Thanks for helping me focus and showing me what's possible in the long term.0 -

I was wondering how long this would take, thanks for the info. I'm only using this account to pay the household bills. I've started using the piggybank technique.
I won't earn a huge amount of cashback once the £2 fee has been deducted but every penny helps. It should work out about £25 over the year plus the cashback from TCB.
35p from mysupermarket to add today.0 -
Hi Everyone.
Been awol for ages with internet problems which is driving me mad.
Every time the phone rings it knocks the internet out for a day or so !
Nobody can seem to sort it out but hopefully will get it sorted out soon
So no listings or surveys have been done at all for weeks
Thats the bad news the good news is I have been working a lot and bringing the extra money in.
But the best news is we have just had £25,000:eek::eek::eek: VAT refund
Which we had no idea about overpayments for the last 4/5 years it arrived in our account yesterday. So we are not sure if we have to pay it out or what is going on.So will check it out today and make sure it is ours and not owed out on any other Tax
If it is ours to spend I will pay off the Mortgage :T:T

Thanks, it has been one of the longer time payments:), I feel exactly the same as you, not getting a massive amount of cashback but every little helps, I think it's about £40 over the year, got to be worth having.
I got £80 from TCB for switching my daughter's phone and now get cashback on that as well, through this account on a deal that would have saved me money anyway! It's mind boggling really.
Wow mavvymoo what amazing news, how wonderful for you, many congratulations, I'll be daydreaming now about a similar windfall *makes mental note to listen more about VAT rather than just muttering darkly when the bill comes around at work*0 -
Ohh mavvymoo thats fantastic! Hope you get to pay your mortgage off!
I sat down yesterday and did LOADS of ebaying. My brother brought some bags of stuff over so i'm concentrating on selling his gear as its better than mine and he gives me half. Lol. Least i did something positive after feeling so negative.
Off to do some more ebaying today. I will try harder in his last 10 days of the challenge as i'm no where near my target!Slimming World Challenge 2017 0/30.5lb
