Hi Patr100
Looks like you've deleted your post but I can see Cardew's reply so thought I'd pop on to confirm, there's no need to change your mother's meter. As Cardew says, we can add the night and day usage together and charge as a single rate. If the account is registered with our website, you can do this online. If not, please contact us and we'll be happy to make the change for you.
Hope this helps.

I deleted it because reading previous posts here seemed to answer my question for me ( I have a new style dual meter and my email confirming the new V19 rate for my property was as expected - single rate ) but I also signed up separately in behalf of my mother (whose account I admin online due to her age and ill health) for V19, she has an older style Eco7 meter but does not need or use Eco7 so I wanted to also switch her to normal rate on V18, I definitely selected the normal all day single rate when selecting tariff but the confirmation email for her account for V19 still shows the split E7 tariffs which I definitely didnt select!0 -
After a quick call to BG to get my economy 7 meter swapped to normal i was told it was not possible as the meter was not over 15 years old.
This contradicts the table posted on here that says its free to swap with BG.
I am now on a single rate with the same meter which makes it impossible for me to compare rates. It only comes up with standard E7 or non E7 rates. I cant select what i am actually on.
Anyone else had this problem? Was it correct info from BG or incorrect info on here?0 -

Not understood!
When using a comparison website, don't bother entering your current tariff.; just use any company/tariff.
All you are interested in is finding the cheapest options. So if you use, say 4,500kWh electricity enter that figure without E7 and get a cost, Then enter data using 4,500 kWh with the E7 percentage used at cheap rate and compare the two.0 -

When I got the original email confirmation which wasnt as expected , I did as suggested in the email and used the contact us link and online form. But the reply I got just said tariffs cannot be changed by email and go through the logged in account options, So I did so again and took screencaps to confirm the chosen tarriff. Now the conformation came through as expected this second time.
I'm hoping this now supersedes the previous not wanted Eco 7 tariff on V19.0 -

Hi Patr100
I'm sorry you had difficulties changing your mother over to single rate from Economy 7. Not sure what the problem was as we deal with a lot of these requests but glad it's sorted now.
We're not allowed to change a customer's prices without talking to them first and the email should've given you a contact number to phone. Sorry, too, if this was missed off. Customers can, though, change tariffs themselves online.
Hope all okay now but, for added peace of mind, you can check online. You can see tariff details on the right hand side of the first 'Your Account' page when logged in.

Edited to add: I just phoned them to double check and the single rate will be applied when the tariff begins in Feb so hopefully sorted.Hi Patr100

Are these emails read or as I suspect it was a auto generated reply
unaware what my specific query was?
Checking the account hasn't helped. The new gas tariff is showing correctly but the drop down to show the electricity tariff actual rates is BLANK?0 -
Hi Patr100
Glad it's sorted. Just to let you know, if you emailed through the 'contact us' page on our website, the email would've definitely gone to an actual person who then replied. It wouldn't have been an automated reply.
We've had a few technical difficulties with our website since the weekend. I suspect these may have had an impact. Guessing though.
Sorry for the issues you've had but glad you're okay now.

I am currently with Eon. We have brought an ex council house and had a prepayment meter. We rung Eon to change meter's (not knowing we was economy seven) When the electrician came out he informed us that we were on a two rate meter, he disconnected the one and only storage heater and advised to ring Eon to get the meter changed to single rate.
So we did.... we were then told because there was no fault with the meter they would charge us £67 for the privilege.
So all in all we are on Economy seven wanting to change and they are wanting us to pay.
We aren't paying and I am now looking to change companies as for a two bed end terrace with the only two people in the house work 40 hours per week EACH! is paying £65 per month on electric. We have placed a complaint.0 -
Hi charlibear and welcome to the Forums.
There's no need to change the meter again. When it was changed from prepayment to credit, it would've been done on a like for like basis. As it was originally Economy 7, a similar meter would've have been put in. With us, you can have a single rate tariff even though you've a two rate Economy 7 meter. All we do is add the day and night usage together and charge at the one rate. If you've registered the account with our website, you can make this change online.
Meter technicians carry out work on behalf of all suppliers and the person changing your meter may not have been aware of this service. I believe charging single rate prices on Economy 7 meters isn't something done by all suppliers. Some will probably ask to change the meter.
Although we don't charge for changing from prepayment to credit, we do for non-essential meter changes. This includes going from a one rate to a two rate or vice versa but, as above, if you just need this to go on to a different tariff then there's no need to go down this route.
Sorry for any confusion charlibear but hope this explains.

I need advice please, i am going onto economy 7 and two people have told me that when its on the night rate anything you use at that time is charged at the low rate, but others tell me that it is only the storage heaters that use the low rate and that if you use any other appliance at this this it is using the day rate, is the right as that means that you have 2 appliances going and your being charged 2 different rates the day and the night , please advise as i am really confused by all this, Thanks0
