Dont want to sound harsh but it was probably in your t&c's when you opened your account that they could do this. Think of it this way if you had lent money to some one and wanted back and were able to do it this way you would.The bank is a business and you own them money. Yes i agree that it is bad they left you with no money but if they went over every account and decided whether to take money on that basis they would never get there money back0

Have you used your Emergency Credit? When I last had a powercard meter, there was £14 "emergency credit" available.and wot the hell are you supposed to do when you have a prepayment gas and electric card and have no cash??????
You might have to get a bit creative with food: I've had some very strange combinations of whatever was left in the cupboard/ freezer at times of cashflow crisis.0
