I couldnt see they were asking for anybody's help just making a statement how nasty a bank had been. That is their opinion and this is mine, which we are all entitled to.
It is easy to paint a bad picture when you are giving your side of things. I am not perfect and have been in a situation before when things get tight. I wouldnt have thought the bank would just take the money from the bank account to pay off a credit card and cancel the overdraft too unless the situation had got really bad, but again that is just my experience.
They are a business and when you have spent money on a credit card or overdraft they are entitled to get it back, as has already been said.0 -

I was there some years ago, and regardless of T&C's, whatever it was that Carter said, it is very callous to leave you penniless. At the time it happened to is, we had a young child, and begging from relatives was humiliating, and had it not been for them, I could not have got to work, eaten etc. The callousness and lack of concern really angered me, how Banks making billions in profit could be so uncaring to long-standing customers - You have no food, may lose your job, cannot pay the mortgage, but hey, it's all in the T&C's! Best of all was the Bank, they bounced 6 DD's totalling about £30, and charged us £180. They explained they bounced them 'because we could not afford them'. Like we could afford 6 X that amount in charges!
We had a happy ending, we moved our salaries elsewhere and RBS were so incompetent chasing the debt that we eventually paid back about 30%, which was even less than the true debt without their charges!
Sorry to rant on a bit, you have my full sympathies, and I hope you can find alternative Bankers quickly, that way you can keep your salary and it puts you back in control for repaying Halifax.0
