For £2000? for sale where? that's all the op has.

Sorry, .... Missed the price. Second hand you would have to search for a 6 year old model in good spec for £5000 + VAT, I guess but a high spec dual inner van is a great buy!

Is a towbar with a trailer fitted to your existing car not an option?
As the extra space is only needed for 4-6 journeys a year a trailer or roofbox is much more practical.

I wouldn't have a voyager if you gave me it they are utter junk and repair wise get ready to remortgage I've repaired a few of these in my time working in the motor trade
Go and buy a Zafira bits are 30p or a Galaxy or thou they don't like going round corners fast

Conflicting reviews on the Cyrsler then so Ill score that one out.

Both of us only have fiestas and I wouldnt feel comfortable towing a trailer if im honest in a small car like that.

We want something bigger so all 4 can travel too as we take 2 cars at the moment but an estate never crossed our minds and a minivan sounds good but they are pricey!

Thanks for the input everyone - appreciated

Are you considering buying an additional vehicle, or selling your Fiesta and replacing it with something bigger? My earlier comment about hiring a minivan was because I thought you meant the former?

Replacing your Fiesta with a car with a bigger boot could end up being handy other than just for holidays. Something like an Octavia or a Mondeo perhaps?

As an additional. I use the tube really so the fiesta is hers as is the other couples and both say they dont want to drive something bigger day to day hence the low budget for an extra vehicle of a much larger size to accomodate 4 of us plus gear.

You could get a towbar fitted to the Fiesta and a small trailer from Halfords for less than £500. That would carry all your camping gear and you still have room for 4 in the car. As the extra load is distributed over a third axle, there's less wear on the car than if you loaded up the boot, and even a Fiesta will pull a small trailer easily.

Plus you have a trailer on hand for all those trips to the rubbish tip, amongst many other things. I couldn't have moved my daughters about when they were at Uni without one. Trailers are one of those things that, once you have one, you wonder how you managed without.

The downside of a small trailer is that they are impossible to reverse. I can reverse most things, but with the little trailer I always unhitch and walk it round. Not difficult :)

In that case, once you factor in insurance, road tax, servicing, MOT and any necessary repair costs on top of any purchase price I really suspect you'd have to take a lot of holidays every year before buying an extra vehicle saved you money. Fair enough if you never like to hire, but if you're wanting to save money I'd at least look at hire costs and do some sums...

The other downside to a trailer is where do you put it when its not in use. I could at least keep the extra car on one of our roads but a trailer? Would just get kicked in or nicked so we are not going to go down that avenue..

Honestly it is the bigger car that we want for occasional useage, it may also mean I get to go fishing a bit more often then I do now as she doesnt like me stinking the car out at the moment as it is!! :)

In that case buy an old Volvo estate ex cop car, huge boot and excellent service history.
