I stopped drinking (alcoholic beverages) at home completely. Don't miss it at all but I still enjoy a few beers or wines on a social occasion.
Saves £££s and beneficial to waistline as well as the wallet
That doesn't work if you are then going out to drink as it costs more.
I pretty much do all my drinking at home (with meals) and don't go down to the pub. Unless I am on holiday and even then do 50% each way. Mind you if I lived close enough to walk to a pub I might go out once in a while but I don't.
Of course cutting down no matter where you drink does help the old waistline as well as pocketbook.0 -

If you must drive so much, think about installing an LPG conversion in the car.

Theres nobody near the vicinity of where I live on the way to work, also everyone works totally different shifts because it is a shop. I used to car share in a previous job and know the benefits it has greatly on the wallet/cars wear and tear£10 A Day In June £350.83/£300July £618.81/£310

Best tip I can offer for shopping is to make a meal plan for the week and use it to generate a list. Then, when shopping, if it's on the list you can buy it, if it's not - don't. Provided you have a modicum of will power all these 'tempting' offers can be happily ignored.
The only time we break this is if there is a special offer on (e.g. our favourite tea bags / coffee / whatever), when I'll happily stock up.
Great advice.
One of the worst things you can do is go to the supermarket with no idea of what you need to buy for the week and just get items you like the look of with no plan how you will use them. Also helps avoid wastage.
A secondary thing is to use leftovers at meals if you've cooked too much and definitely don't throw away just based on Sell by dates. If there are unserved items left, put them in the fridge or freeze to use for another meal. I'm surprised by the number of people who just throw food away if it isn't used at the time when it could make another easy meal.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
My main thing is to simply not spend much. A few things I usually do. Take water with me on days out and bars of choc. It's amazing how much these things cost in a corner shop or on the beach.
Park out of town for free and walk in.
Turn down the heating to 18 degrees. That's warm enough for us!0 -
I try and win what I want so that saves me money in the long run even if I win a bit of food saves me spending any money.Another way to save is try not to shop just write a list of what you need.0

Also I use coupons/vouchers for my shopping that saves a bit so glad they were invented.0

Don't buy stuff when you can get it for free.
We have free coffee supplied at work. We also have a cafe on site.
A lot of people go to the cafe, £2 for a cup of coffee, twice a day.
£4 x 5 = £20 per week, £80 per month, £960
All spending on something that you can get for free. Maybe the coffee tastes better but Nescafe is fine for me to have an extra £1000 in the bank over a year!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Past 18 months I've been in the fortunate position of being able to walk to work.
The saving in motor expenses is significant.0 -
Take the bus instead of the Mercedes (works out at £1.23/day).0

I bulk cook meals and veggies and freeze as much as possible. I didn't realise how much this would save me until I tried it but It saves me over £100 a month in food!
You just need to plan and prep and take a weekend to cook everything - so good!0
