Our cars are the OH has an audi that is 13 yrs old, I have a Santa Fe that is 9 lol.
the boys share a 2006 peugeot.
People shopping in Aldi with Mecedes don't just get it. No mercedes means you can afford Tesco and M&S dine in for 10 deals plus the odd trip to a fishmonger lol.
If Aldi fulfills your needs and is local why would you want to pay £+ to get it elsewhere?
I appreciate it doesn't have all the luxuries but perhaps they prefer to dine out. My MIL won't use Aldi and still eats out."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Well, for a start we'd use one if we had one. but I wouldn't drive 30 miles to find one either witht eh price of gas/diesel.
I also would not spend 100% of my money there. I like a bit of quality and luxury mixed in with my money saving lol.0 -
use cruise control where ever possible, my 06 2.2 PETROL Vectra will quite easily do 49mpg at 65mph on long runs.
lidle and aldi
stop the expensive toilet rolls, washing up liquid and lurpack butter
beans on toast at least once a week, followed by a egg sarrny if you get pekish later on
switch everything off by the plug in your sitting room when going to bed, microwaves/ cookers etc with illuminated clocks - switch them off
if you have a combie boiler switch this off at night also, as many of them kick in every now and then to keep the onboard tank of water hot which is a total waste of money when your in bed.
battery charger and batterys from ebay
on many cars - the price of parts is quite reasonable - its the labour costs that's the killer, find one garage and stick to them, but be cheaky and tell them you want reduced labour charges, I have used the same garage for 10 years (major chain) there labour is £48 per hour, but I get charged £30 to £35 a hour, and many quick jobs (ie spark pug change) im not even charged for - because I have used them for 10 years, and they are the only garage I use.
if you smoke, change to tobaco, bulk buy filter tips and papers from ebay
if you like to treat your self to a local take away, then use just eat, go through topcashback to get 3% I think it is off your meal, then use a cashback credit card to pay for it
so many many ways
my favourite meal is britsih frying steak from lidle, mushrooms and onions, beans, portion of chips and a nice herb and garlic garlic bread from the lidle, think the steak is £2.49, beans 25p cant rember the other prices, but 2 people get a quality meal for about £2 per head.0 -

Yep 30 miles is a little excessive.
I know some can be a bit a grim but ours is modern and fresh. We have to travel 6/7 miles to find a mainstream competitor. We do have a Waitrose which inevitably gets used for the stuff that Aldi don't stock."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Follow Einstein's wise words.Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it ... he who doesn't ... pays it
Save before you spend. Then what you'll also appreciate what you buy more.0 -

Actually it is more like 50 lol.
but like I said, I would use one, but nto for everything.
I already buy the cheapest TP on special offer, everyday value butter, OJ and other basics at Tesco. Only buy brands when I know there is a quality enhancement (which is often not the case).0 -

Modern day pilfering. Tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of employees will do this sort of thing. It was nicking of pencils, staplers, staples, binders, plastic pouches, printer paper, making private phone calls on company phones, claiming a few more business miles than you actually did etc etc etc in the past (and probably still is).
Don't think you, or any of us, will save money that way - - - all companies will have the cost of pilfering worked into their product prices. And you can bet your bottom dollar that the pilfering allowance included in the prices is quite generous, in the employer's favour.
So we all, including the pilferers, lose by having the "smart" pilferers. Congratulations to all of us.0
