My friend told me that one year her (very rich) SIL gave her husband (SIL's brother) a Rolex and gave her a saucepan. How crushing!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

My husband once bought me a chopping board for Christmas:A

30th birthday present from my husband was a plastic tea tray (you said you would find a tea tray useful - yes, but I didn't mean I wanted one for my birthday)
My friend's husband gave her a surprise trip to Paris for her 30th0 -
One year (in my twenties) I got a make your own bracelet/necklace set. Now I love jewellery and would quite happily make my own but this was clearly aimed at a 7-10 year old :rotfl:There comes a time in every woman's life when the only thing that helps is a glass of champagne ... Bette Davis0

At age 15, from my evil step mum and Dad for Xmas - A lime green velour tracksuit size 6. Coincidentally the same size as evil step mum. I was a size 14 at that time. Wish I'd had the guts to say something at the time instead of being so sweet and passive.
I once got my nan a lovely pair of slippers for her birthday that were gifted back to me at Xmas. Batty old cow.
When I was 9 I got a pound shop diary from my best friend that was missing the month of December. :-)0 -
A twirl as in a spin around on your heels or a chocolate bar? And she gave another friend a plush toy? How old were you all, 6?:p
A chocolate bar - around 30p at the time.
It wasn't the disparity as such that I had an issue with but that she had so obviously put so much thought into buying the plush toy and so little into mine.
We were around 15 yo.0 -
My DS1 received a couple of Star Wars books (he hated sci-fi) for Xmas from my BIL and SIL with the name of one of their sons in the front.0
