Help: Re Different Colours and Negative Feedback

I just know I am going to get negative feedback over this, and it would be my first poor feedback.
I sold a necklace set on Ebay which was brand new for 99p and £1.70 postage. It had some stones in it which are purple and the buyer sent me a message today...
"received necklace set today but not as described. these are not PURPLE STONES they are grey???!!!
bought especially to go with purple dress and i am very disappointed these have no colour in them, please advise what you are going to do to rectify this for me. thanks "
I replied
"I am sorry you are not happy with the colour of the stones. To me they are purple. If you want to return them I will refund you of course."
and got this back
"by no stretch of imagination are these purple!! looked at also by the window in bright light and if anything some even got a brown tinge, hubby witnessed and agreed no way purple.this is very upsetting as bought to go with my purple dress for my holiday tomorrow. these no use to me as not purple or even mauve!! will have to return them a week monday after i get back, are you also going to pay my return costs due to these not being purple?? if a problem then glad to resolve through ebay res centre as i will insist on no costs to me to return your item, paid promptly and in good faith but these are not as described.sorry if i sound stroppy but was waiting for these to go with my outfit and now have nothing special to wear with this dress, even mauve (pale purple would of just been about alright) but these are grey glass looking.
let me know what you want to do, i leave tomorrow mid morning so would like to resolve before i go."
and replied..
"I understand that you say they are not purple, but to me they were. However, I will refund but would prefer you to open a case with ebay as that way I get my fees back as well.
I understand you can't post until you return from holiday and that is fine. Have a nice time whilst you are away"
I am sure the stones are purple and feel it is unfair for her to demand the return postage. I always refund return postage even when it is a change of mind, but in this case she is trying to say my description was wrong. I just know that no matter what I do I am going to get negative feedback anyway....any suggestions ??

I think you have already handled it well, I certainly wouldn't offer anything more.
I find it rather sad that people feel the need to be so 'ranty' about a cheap necklace , what sort of person gets that stressed about an unmatching necklace for goodness sake.
Let them open a case if they prefer and personally if they were as described I would not be offering their return costs either.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If it were me, I would just refund the £2.70 and tell them to keep it.
I think she will neg you if she has to return, or she won't return it and neg you anyway.
To me, its just not worth the hassle for the sake of a couple of pounds.
Just apologise for the confusion, refund and get rid. As much as it will stick in your throat, it may stop you getting a neg and a hit on your stars.0 -
Think I will do that, have just sent a message saying...
If you would prefer I can just issue you a full refund and you can either keep or dispose of the necklace yourself. If I issue the refund now it will go through as an echeque as I have no funds in Paypal, however I have some things finishing tomorrow evening, and can refund you then if that is okay.
Let me know which you prefer, and then enjoy your holiday,.
So, hopefully she might just leave a netural and not hammer my stars as much..
All this for a 99p necklace...lol;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
I would make her open a case. It might only be £2 odd but how many sellers has she bagged something free off because its not worth the hassle.
Anybody normal would get it, having only spent £2 and either put it down to experience or send a polite message saying 'sorry, but to my eye these aren't purple, can I return for a refund'. Not rant and rave like a loon.
I wish I were the type of person who could do that. I'd get all sorts of freebies on eBay.Sigless0 -

The sort that bounces from seller to seller, buying relatively inexpensive items, then complaining bitterly of their disappointment and acquiring them for free, from honest, feedback conscious sellers who feel it's not worth the agro or feedback damage to decline to play along!I find it rather sad that people feel the need to be so 'ranty' about a cheap necklace , what sort of person gets that stressed about an unmatching necklace for goodness sake.
Have a look at their feedback left for previous sellers - is 'having issues' a regular scenario?"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

I would refund without return, but I would make them open a case "so that I could do so".They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Make sure she returns them before you return her £2.70Needing to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Lots more to go to get into my size 6 jeans0

Some people get their refund and still NEG you. It's better just to follow standard processes like you would in a business and get them to return it.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise.
