My hair is ridiculously fine and tangles at the slightest puff of wind or ruffle during washing. I just used to put up with it, got used to washing my hair without rubbing it and pulling fistfuls of hair out of my brush and comb.
Until i went to a new hairdresser who was struggling with it after washing and who then said 'ooh this calls for my special brush'. Which turned out to be an old lady's shampooing brush: round and flat, made out of plastic with plastic 'spikes' quite widely spaced apart. It has a plastic strap over the back like a horse grooming brush.
And oh my word I'd never use anything else now. it's amaaaaaaaazing at getting tangles out without pulling the hair. I take mine everywhere with me even though people laugh at me when i brush my hair with it cus they think it's a horse grooming brush.
And the best thing is, they're about two quid! I'm not sure whether you can get them in boots but ask your hairdresser for one. For 2 quid it's worth a go.

You can water down normal conditioner in a spray bottle too, you have to give it a really good shake to mix it, but then you can water it down to the right consistency to suit your daughters hair - the finer the hair, the more water you use.
Snaggles - you pinched my answer :rotfl: :rotfl:
Serioulsy though this is without an MSE doubt the way to go!!
We have had curly hair shenanigans for almost 5 years now!! About two weeks ago I found we had run out of spray
I did the above (DD though *we* were very clever) and do you know we have not had one tear at hairbrushing time since!!
Not only is it a great money saving / OS idea but I find it leaves her hair silky soft rather than sticky like the sprays tend to do

I use a Charles Worthington leave in conditioner it's really good and you only need a tiny amount. (Charles Worthington results moisture seal hair healer leave in conditioner!) You can get it in Boots & Tescos.
Look out for the Charles Worthington 'dream hair' detangler in Tesco's.
It has a shelf price of £5.49 - but is actually scanning at the tills at ...1p!

We use the avon one and it works well with both my youngest who has slightly wavy hair and my eldest who has proper curly hair.Murphy's No More Pies Club Member No. 680

here's a link so you can see a pic of what the super duper brush looks like. It's actually a scalp massage brush so it has flexible spaced-out tines. On this site it's £3 but you can get it in hairdressers' and chemists etc that stock denman stuff.

I'd recommend Boots Coconut and Almond Leave in Conditioner 150ml- £1.29 and often on BOGOF or 3 for 2 (at the moment) and comes in a not too huge convenient spray bottle.
As an aside (not a very nice one I might add - but handy to know) I've also noticed that my DD has had a marked decrease in head lice infestations since using this for the last 2 years.
Oh yeah it smells gorgeous too:D0 -
My daughter has shoulder length fine curly hair. Over the years we have tried every conditioner and detangle spray under the sun (well it feels like it) in the end we found that if she conditions her hair when she washes it (any cheap conditioner is fine) rinses it out , combs it with a wide tooth comb/brush and lets it dry naturally, then when she needs to comb / brush it again she just sprays it with water first.0
