On my daughters hair (shes 6) i use hot oil once a week and its fab! She has very long hair that knots if you even look at it!

It about £5 for three tubes which you can buy in asda or such like (or try your local poundland!)

You place it in warm water then apply to the hair, it doesnt burn (although its called hot oil) and after the hair is so soft and lovely!

Sophies hair tends to stay knot free for a week. Ive also taken to washing her hair once or twice a week as well and that has really helped and her hair seems to be in much better condition.

Lucky you though having a daughter of 18months with a full head of hair! My daughter looked like a boy until she was 3! lol

i tend to use loads of conditioner on my dd's hair (shes neary 4) and comb it through before rinsing it out. i've noticed this does help a lot and i too found the detangling sprays a load of tosh!

dd still runs off when i get the hairbrush out though lol so probably not much help :D
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A

I think you are right about the sprays, they don't do much. But for my daughter who has very curly hair, it's more psychological. If I get the spray out she thinks it won't hurt as much!

You don't need to wash conditioner out, you can leave it in which helps to protect the hair and makes it easier to handle for a few days.

try Aussie 3 minute Miracle conditioner - there's often a sample if you look on the freebies board - best thing I ever found for my hair and you'd only need a tiny bit for your daughter about once a week - does much the same as hot oil but is less of a faff imo.

Also try the Detangling Comb from Avon - I have used mine on a few fols nightmare hair and it is a god send. Only a couple of quid each unless they are on offer (think I got my last one for a pound).
