  • The same could be said, you are right. But thats beside the point. The point is, people saying "i cant be arsed helping coz i dont like what you said". Well if thats the case, dont offer an opinion.

As for the provoking an argument, thats silly to suggest. I just think the responses of some people on here are uncalled for.

I pay £100 a month for my Digital Services, but that does not give even a slight indication to my outgoings. So the fact he pays £44 a month means nothing. He may be a college student who gets £30 a week or what ever they receive these days.

Clearly, if he was prepared to "subsidise" his parent's viewing with even part of this £44 he could easily end up with Sky on his parent's TV and a MultiRoom subscription for himself. As already suggested back in May, he could have ended up actually paying less (and getting more) than he currently did.

I still wonder what agenda you had in bumping up this old thread...
  • i didnt realise the age of the thread as it was top of the second page. the fact that i have to explain my reason for responding to a thread that has not been active for 8 DAYS is a little strange. I must have missed the rules of the forum.

you clearly have an agenda in searching for my agenda so next on the agenda is to leave it there as I dont want to upset the people who enjoy looking down on others with their high and mighty posts.

I think this thread ran it's course once the OP called subsidising his parent's viewing "madness"....
  • Some crazy over reactions on here just becasue OP said he didnt want to subsidise his parents viewing. He didnt come on asking for opinions on his views on life, rather he just wanted moneysaving help like most people on this forum do.
The problem with a lot of people on here is they are so far up their own !!!!!! that they miss the point of alot of posts and jump on the OP for an inocent statement. You dont know his income, you dont know his situation. All you know is he wants cheaper football on the tele. So either provide a solution or assistance or keep your opinions to yourselves.
    Cheers Dave, appreciate the understanding.

For the record, I rang up TalkTalk, BT and Sky and tried to negotiate the best deal I could with the viewing options that I required.

It seemed to pay dividends to play them off against each other.

One interesting thing to come out of it was that BT claimed there was no chance TalkTalk were going to receive their sports channels while TalkTalk themselves gave me a reassurance that they'd be available.

Anyway, in the end I managed to get a 12 month deal paying £33.50 a month for Sky Sports HD. Which I'm fairly chuffed about. That will probably go up about a tenner when BT Sport comes out - so roughly the same as I was paying earlier accept I have the full works now (in HD) rather than one crappy Sky Go subscription.

So yeah, morale of the story is ring up the providers and try to lodge the best deal you can. At first, Sky tried to flog me a really expensive package but when I commented that I thought it was mightily over-priced and not competitive with other options they came right down.

So you're still not "subsidising" your parent's viewing; so a definite win for you.
