Looking to watch the football next season - TV options?

Hey guys,

As someone who lives and breathes football, this past season I've been paying for Sky Sports and ESPN through Sky Go for a subscription fee of £44 a month (ridiculously expensive, I know).

Now, seeing as BT Sport is coming into play, I was wondering what my options were when it comes to paying for a subscription service.

Unfortunately, because I live at home with parents, it's not really practical enough to buy a Sky TV subscription and have a dish hooked up to my room so I've been running the Sky Go service through my Xbox and HD TV.

Problem is, it doesn't look like BT Sport is coming to Sky Go and I'd like to lower the price of the subscription regardless.

Is there any type of digital box or something I can go after here to solve my dilemma?

    Hi Matt.

Would you be willing to switch to BT broadband as an alternative to get the new services that are coming?

What's the practicality issues with getting Sky at your parents?
Do they just not want it or the dish maybe?

It's not me who pays the broadband bill so that's probably not an option!

Well, purely because I have a smallish room and I've only got a 26in TV so is it really worth it?

Of course it's worth it over paying a £44 SkyGo subscription. For another tenner a month, your parents could also benefit from your Sky subscription on their TV. You'd probably be wise getting them to become new customers of Sky in which case you'd get free equipment, installation and (maybe) a six month half price offer .

Perhaps you could arrange something with your parents.
switch to sky broadband/phone/tv for the house then get a second box in your room.

Then you can pay the difference. And it'll mean they also get sky tv

Without me wanting to sound like a tight git, why should I subsidise my parent's TV viewing? That's madness.

I just can't believe there isn't a simpler solution to all of this.

because it could work out cheaper for you ?

say for example your parents are paying £30 a month for internet/phone.
and you paying £40 for TV.
and getting them all together would cost you £60

Your parents could continue to pay the same, and u'll be paying £30 instead of £40.
And your parents will also have access to the TV as well and it'll be cheaper for you

(the numbers are just made up as an example)

It will depend on what services they have and what they are paying currently, and if they'll agree to switch

How much simpler do you want?

Sign up to sky or keep watching it on Sky go, simples!

I flatly refuse to pay to charges levied by sky for sport, and just google "live football free streaming" and watch on my laptop. In these days and age, money is very thin, and having suffered redundancy twice in as many years, this is the way I choose.
