MSE News: Sky takes over O2 and Be broadband: What does this mean for customers?
Comments

....Sky have allowed users to have their own router but they certainly at the moment do not support it nor encourage it. Only the most techy customers will use their own router at present.......
No!
Sky will not be automatically providing routers to all o2 customers moving to them.
From the outset of this o2 have had this in their FAQ:
http://www.o2.co.uk/broadband/broadbandchanges
Will I need to send my O2 router back?
No, you'll be able to keep using your O2 router when you move over to Sky.
And the same message on Sky's FAQ:
http://www.sky.com/shop/your-move-to-sky/faq/Will I need a new router for Sky Broadband?
No. Unless we have told you otherwise, you can continue using your existing
router both now and after your service transfers to Sky0 -

I was not aware that I ever said that they will be.
If you read my post properly, you will see that that comment was an answer to espresso who said that some Sky customers use their own routers - ie non O2 and non Sky.0 -
Because when I phoned to check they have it down from my last conversation they said it wasn't noted. I am still waiting to hear the result of the phone recording they are going to listen to.0

the standard line they take is that the credit has to be approved by the manager, cant be done by the person you speak to on phone, most likely that these credits wont be approved by managers.....if its too good to be true...........
Yes that was what happened with me. I was told it had to be authorised by the supervisor who had already left. An email was to be sent for the manager to authorise the next day. It was authorised and credited 2 days later and the £75 showing on my account.0 -
The phone conversation is the evidence so surely they can't back out of it. I can request the recording by law.
My Sky router arrived this morning.0 -
They don't record all calls, but have to advise you that a call may be recorded.0

If you don't get the credit then email the CEO and complain. That usually brings the desired result.
Have you signed up for a Sky ID yet? That would probably be a good idea. Once that's done you can see what's happening on your account and also send Help Requests. At least that way it's documented.0 -
Apologies if this has already been posted. I spoke to Sky this afternoon as I received a letter saying I was being transferred from O2 in January/February and giving a breakdown of my new charges. It stated that the cost of my broadband would include a £2.50 charge for not having Sky TV so I called to complain as I physically can't get Sky in my flat.
The woman I spoke to said that if I transferred now, she could remove the charge and give me free line rental for 12 months, so my broadband and telephone will only cost me £7.50 a month for a year. So if you're waiting to be transferred, call them and do it now!0 -

Maybe not but they sent me a new router as part of the transfer deal. It's still in its box, the changeover took about 5 minutes yesterday and the o2 router is working fine. If I hadn't been at my desk at the time I would never have noticed.
My BB speed has never been very good but seems to be about the same.0 -

They seem to be doing that if you arranged a deal with them over 12 months as opposed to just moving over on the rolling month contract. It's still in its box, the changeover took about 5 minutes yesterday and the o2 router is working fine. For some, the Sky SR101 hub has been giving a greater speed but apparently it's more likely for those attaining 12mb or more.
You could try it and see but perhaps wait until the 10 day DLM is finished - unless of course it's just changed over.0
