Service and MOT price not as advertised

Frankly if you would complain about this you need to get yourself a hobby! Unless complaining about petty violations in advertising is your hobby!
I'm glad not everyone takes your view. It seems wrong to me to seek to entice customers in and then say that what was written in black and white without relevant exclusions would not apply. If no-one complains then they will continue to seek to fleece people. Sometimes you need to stand up and to characterise that as "complaining about petty violations" is IMO getting it wrong.0 -
You seem to be ignoring the fact that they have lost time and money on making the call.

It's not a lie. They offer a service and MOT for £99, just not for the OP's car. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

They are not fleecing people. They are offering a service and MOT for £99. That is a very good deal. If your car is eligible for that deal then you get a good deal.
The only thing they have done wrong is not put "from" in the advert. If you really want to complain about that you're a pretty pathetic individualThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

And it is because the regulating bodies deemed it misleading/unfair that they make companies put the "from" in the adverts in the first place.
Advertising used to be a lot more misleading (outright lying too). And its because of those pathetic people complaining that they now have a line to toe.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Whether or not there is an issue here depends on whether the advertisement is an "invitation to treat" or an "offer".
The law would tend to the former as "MOT and service £99" is very vague and leaves things open.
MOT and service on what kind of car? Just because the advert doesn't specify, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will cover all cars.
In the event, the customer has seen the advert, made enquiries and received an offer from the garage that he is not happy with, so he has taken his business elsewhere. There is really not much more to it than that, and it is certainly not something you should be losing sleep over.0 -

Since the OP was indeed influenced by it, they were most certainly affected by it.
Personally I dont pay any attention to adverts at all. But then to me, its nothing more than a sales pitch and that there are usually always strings attached. A lot of people do expect things to be as advertised though. Hence false eyelash disclaimers on mascara adverts.
I imagine a lot of people would say you have to be pretty pathetic for criticising a stranger on how they spend their time. Like I said, we all have different preferences. Why not just let them get on with it?
In fairness the OP has not said they will be contacting ASA or trading standards so I was not criticising them. I was criticising you who came up with the suggestion of contacting them.
It's a massively over the top reaction to a relatively harmless occurrence! Still that's what I've come to expect from youThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

In fairness where did I say that I'd report them? All I said is that the OP may be able to report them. I often give advice on what avenues are open to people with a complete disregard to what I would personally do.
It was a harmless suggestion which you have had a massive over the top reaction to. Still, thats what i've come to expect from you
You've voiced your opinion and its just that, an opinion. The fact is, the OP has the right to complain if they so wish. I'm not going to think any less of someone because they choose to spend their time differently from how I would spend it. If you do.....well I'm afraid that says more about your character than mine. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
