I definitely find my skin is much better when I cleanse properly. If I use cleaning wipes every day it just starts to look manky. Having said that I always keep a pack in because if I am really tired it's better to use a wipe than not cleanse at all.
  • Thanks for your replies. I understand that wipes may not cleanse as thoroughly as a cleanser but if you use a cleanser or face wash in the morning doesn't that do the job OK, as long as you've removed your make up with something at night?

I have used wipes for about 10 years because they are so convenient but I also like to use a toner afterwards to remove the last traces of make-up. I use the Simple wipes and think are the best suited for me (I have tried loads of others but none really compares for price/effectiveness).

I agree that the No7 wipes go very quickly when there are money off vouchers because they are one of the cheapest but to be honest, even at the reduced price, they are still more expensive than Simple wipes so I don't bother.

I don't think wipes are necessarily bad for your skin, as long as you ensure all traces of make-up have been removed. I wouldn't feel it had been unless I had used toner too.

Hello again, I have heard that cleansing wipes are bad for your skin but I can't be bothered with cleansing at night so I do that in a morning and use a wipe at night.

I've been into two Boots stores today to get some of those No7 wipes with my vouchers and they had sold out completely, so if they are so bad for your skin they still sell pretty well.

    Any views?

They a just disposable cloths impregnated with cleansing lotion. I think it's a myth they are any different to regular cleansing lotion.

    I like water :-)

So I use oil at night & hot cloth cleansers in the morning.

I use plain babyoil for make up removal and recently vitamin e cleanser from Asda at £1.

I use wipes for holidays but don't find them very effective for make up removal anyway, I usually find mascara all over my face when I wake up even though I've cleansed with a wipe the night before.

I find they leave a film on my skin which does seem to lead to it being congested. I think the difference is that it stays on your skin whereas I would normally rinse a cleanser off with water.

I always keep some in my handbag, you never know when you might need a snack.

    You eat them? :D

  • I use baby wipes rather than cleansing wipes as I find they leave my skin softer and they are cheaper. The best ones I've found are Huggies.

I use them at night to remove my makeup and cleanse, then I moisturise. I then use a face scrub in the shower in the morning and find that, with the combination of the two, my skin is well cleaned and free fro makeup.

I buy Nivea or Johnson wipes when on offer, although I do like the a boots ones, especially as they have a lid.

I have to wear waterproof mascara, but no problem getting it off. Then serum followed by night cream, an hour reading in bed while it soaks in. Great.

But they are the same as any other non water cleanser.

You can't compare them for face washes, thats like comparing apples & oranges.

What you can compare them too are other cleansing lotions that are designed to be tissued or cotton wool balled off.

If you use wipes & toner there won't be any film left.
