Do you use cleansing wipes - the quickest way to clean your skin at night?

I used to use lotions but they made my eyes sting, so eventually discovered that vaseline worked better - just used to smear a bit over the eye and wipe off with loo paper, then maybe rinse off and re- wash with a little soap and water.
btw I didn't use foundation.
I always keep cheap wipes in the bathroom for a quick freshen up but do find that they can make my face a bit itchy.

I do have a stash of cleansing wipes but they're more for if I won't have access to water (going camping say) or for late nights when I can't be bothered to cleanse properly - they're definitely not something I use on a daily basis, just because my face never feels properly clean after I use them. I like the Simple ones as they're quite good at removing make-up and aren't too expensive even when they're not on offer."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

I use Wilkinson fragrance free Skin Therapy wipes. They are 67p a pack. My neighbour always used No7 wipes, until she ran out and borrowed some of mine. She reckons they are just as good, and only uses them now.0

Although as I said earlier, cleansing with wipes is still better than nothing.Person_one wrote: »

Really good question I think. I do think that to a degree the condition of our skin is 'set': I've been on various diets, lived in various different places and been quite different weights, and never noticed any real difference in my skin. However, I do think that a little time and effort can help (NB not necessarily money! I've used plenty of brilliant cheap products and rubbish expensive ones).
Saying this, though, I had horrible teenage acneic oily skin from the age of 10 until about last year. Now, though, while I still get a few blackheads and the occasional whitehead, I'm beginning to see a real improvement this year in terms of oiliness balancing out and spots clearing up, and can only conclude that I'm finally beginning to 'grow out of it' (I'm 27!!).
As for specific brands, I don't rate Simple at all. Simple my butt - their ingredients lists look like a chemistry lesson and the 'natural' ingredients they do use tend to be very low down the list, indicating that the quantity in which they're used is minute. A few of my fave products/brands (remember this is for a naturally oily skin type):
- Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions
- Lush Coalface
- Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser
- Dr Hauschka
- Elizabeth Grant: The Socializer
- Clay and Herbs Purifying Acne Masque
I probably have some faves that I've left out though0 -
I discovered Jane Iredale's Magic Mitt about 5 years ago - it changed my life! Just need the mitt and warm water and hey presto! every trace of make-up gone AND it lasts for over a year (even longer sometimes!); recently left mine in a hotel and was distraught - had to quickly buy another one as I couldn't go back to creams, oils, soaps etc...!
Try it!0 -
I was always lucky enough to have great skin, no spots or anything through my teenage years. I used wipes, simple, nivea, Johnson & Johnson, whichever was cheapest when I shopped and I never had a problem with my skin. Then I had the Depo injection and developed adult acne
I started spending a fortune on skincare: Clarins, estee lauder, that sort of thing and it barely kept the spots at bay.
I gave up after a few years and started buying Clearsil face wash which worked on the spots, but left me skin sooooooooooooo dry!
I now use Boots own brand Cucumber face wash - £1.50 a tube! in the evening to take off my makeup and then just quickly rinse my face with a splash of cold water in the morning before moisturising. I rarely get spots now, my skin is soft and smooth and I still get ID'd in bars despite turning 40 this yearYou had me at your proper use of "you're".0 -

I used to use Boots cucumber face wash years ago and swore by it. I don't know why but I seemed to drift away from it and now my skin is ultra sensitive and seems to react to foaming washes but I did used to love this one and sometimes wonder if it will suit me now but I think it is scented, I know Boots have an unscented one but don't know if it would be the same as this one. I get tired of spending money on more expensive things sometimes.0 -

Me too.
I also don't like the fact were all filling up landfill sites with all these wipes! So I try to limit my use of them.0 -

I wash my face with warm water and a bar of Simple soap most mornings. So far my face still looks human...

I agree that most of the stuff we use probably makes no difference.
However, if you clean your face with cotton wool and cleanser after only washing it with soap you'd probably be horrified by what comes off!0 -

I doubt it, to be honest. When I wash my hands with soap I can see the dirt coming off if it was on there, I trust it does the same to skin elsewhere on my body.
I work in healthcare, I know with confidence that soap cleans skin effectively!0
