Does anyone remember the smarties walking sticks? I know you still get them in wilko's and at seaside shops but they could be used to make a giant santa sleigh.

I've been admiring the choclolate sleighs but wondering how long I'd have to wait to make them for anyone - DD is 18mths.

But I have just realised she starts nursery for 2 afternoons a week next month so I can make some for her nursery staff at Christmas :T:T:T

  • Just bought kitkats for the sleighs. Love the idea of a little box with chocs in! I will likely use some little one from the tins and then a Santa on the front. Thinking I will use cellophane depending on how sturdy the structure is without it!

I'm definitely going to do those sleighs. I love them.

Re glue guns, I won't really get much use out of one but will, if I have to and can't think of an alternative, buy one.

Can anyone recommend a good (but cheap one)? Going to Costco tomorrow but they tend to be high end everything.

I intend to make some as decoration in the hallway where there is a lovely console table to display them. Even a little child can enjoy seeing the colours etc. My grandchildren are aged 2, 4 and almost 5 and I started them young on the Christmas thing.

They will enjoy looking at them and then I will help them make them for their parents during the Christmas hols.

I am not sure if using a glue gun on them is a good idea? I was thinking of using some of those glue dots (double sided dots) or double sided foam.
  • Im going to make some of the sleighs for my DD's and grandkids, they will love them:) going down the kitkat, candy cane, and thorntons choc route for adults but I will use popping candy, choc beans etc for the children. I think they look really lovely and Christmassy:)

I may even make one to display and they I can eat it afterwards:rotfl::rotfl:will beat large tin of chocs I usually buy and then take in to work as everyone gets fed up with it at home

I've done a more adult version using Thorntons chocolate bars, they do ones about the size of a kitkat which you can use as the base. Then either use their other bars (alpini etc) for the rest or make a Santa sack out of shiny red card (cube with an open side) fill this with chocs and mini booze.

That is a brillaint idea, - as have some mini scotch that be brill, can get a couple of Baileys minis.

    Thank you xxxxx

Just a thought, I'm going to use the double sided stickies -I got a opacked 320 squares for 99p - try the Works - any craft shop, or Wilkinsons, as they can be cut to size, and when anyone peels them off not going to rip the chocolate wrapper off.

Know Argos have glue gun (inc 24 sticks) - £11.99
