  • I apologise if this has been mentioned but I haven't read through the whole thread.

As an alternative to gift tags get some small cheap (plastic) baubles from £land and write on using a permanent marker. I have done this in the past and everyone thought it was a brill idea, I even have one aunt who still gets hers out every year for the tree :o
  • Has anyone ever made the candy sleighs?

I am struggling to find a UK version that doesn't use hersheys. Anyone any suggestions what to use instead? Think I may have to embarrass myself in the shop measuring all the mini chocolates against a kitkat :rotfl:

I will report back on my findings :)

I made them last year and had a red and gold theme. I used four stick size kit kats, rocky bars in the red and gold colour, mini twix, chocolate coins and a small Lindt Father Christmas to sit on top.

I stuck them together with narrow double sided tape and wrapped them in cellophane.

  • Howdo.

Got all excited about making a Christmas cake this year but then realised Im the only one who eats it (adores it more like) and I shouldn't have it due to ibs so binned that plan. Have got 2 jars of sainsbobs mincemeat in cupboard ready for making some mince pies nearer the time so will do those instead!

Love the idea of the sleighs. I think I will make them for both kids teachers this year. Fun and inexpensive and will stand out from the expanse of tins of roses they will get lol!

Locker at work is full of presents and I have a shopping list app on phone. So am getting there.

As a Classroom assistant I know that I would appreciate one of these at Christmas!
However me personally I try to encourage parents not to give me a gift as I know it is expensive, they don't seem to have heard of £ shops lol. However every year they never seem to listen and buy me gifts anyway, which is much appreciated may I add :)
However I usually get soap sets, Wine and chocolates. I don't drink so the wine is handed out to family, my mum and aunts get the chocolates, and the soap sets are used till the following June lol.

But If I received one of these instead it would be hidden away and no-one would be allowed to touch it pmsl.

So your children's teacher is a very luck person if they get one of these from you!

Thats nice to hear I was thinking of doing some for my sons class mates but wasn't sure as I didn't want them (or rather parents) to think I had done it on the cheap :o

I will cost one up later, I am sure they will cost the same if not a bit more than a cheap selection box, however they are so much nicer and much more thought gone into it.

might be worth keeping a look out for the price offers when selection boxes go on sale, you could use the chocs from them to make your sleighs.

I'm sure they wouldn't think you'd done it on the cheap. You can vary what you put in them as well. I've had lots of compliments on mine in past years. When SS was still at school I did these and snowman soup for his teachers.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
