Egg/canada square operations

Well it took 12 months but I finally received a letter from Canada Square making an offer. It took 17 e mails and chasers from the PPI reclaims company but at least they have confirmed I exist. I think the desperate e mail I sent to Ian Clark made the difference as he signed the letter. I would advise everyone to use that method. Address is shown in an earlier post,.
Hope I don't have to wait 12 months for the cheque. :T0 -
FWIW I had a letter out of the blue from them, probably the beginning of last month. Filled in the form, sent it off. Had a letter a week later saying claim upheld and cheque would be with me within 20 days.
Cheque duly arrived.
Mind you the refund was only £17.74, but I was surprised that anyone had caught me out with PPI, as I *thought* I had turned that down on every application. Seems I missed one.

This morning I received a letter from Egg with regards to my PPI complaint. They are still saying that they need proof of my address even though I provided them with the proof back in April for my SAR request and my SAR even has the documentation in it which was signed off by a member of staff. I sent them a letter with the proof that they had sent me and they are still saying they do not have my current address.
I cannot keep sending these people originals of my utilities and bank statements as they do not send them back. I thought about a certified copy but I've seen other people's posts on here that they have an issue with those also.
What to do now? They are being deliberately obstructive. I know that people have been waiting months for their cheques but I can't even get past the address stage!!
Can I go straight to the Ombudsman?0 -

Thanks Taff, does anyone know what it is?
Someone has just told me that British Gas let you download and print utility bills from their website so I've just signed up and done that and will send it off.
What irks me is that they are rank pi55 takers and they already have this info. Obviously someone hasn't updated their sytems properly or they are using delay tactics, whatever it is, it's just plain wrong.0 -
google for the ceo, you'll find a website that has a lot of them.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Hello all,
Im relativley new to the forums however MSE has helped me in many ways to claim back charges etc - So thanks!!
I am currently in talks with CSO about my egg credit card, they have confirmed that i did have PPI on the account when i opended the credit card in 2002, however they are saying that as it was taken out on line and no advice was given by any body then they have closed my complaint regarding claiming back the PPI. If i remember rightly the PPI box was already pre-ticked. Has anybody else had a similar issue and success that would be able to advise me what the next step would be? They have said that I could go to the FSO.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!0 -
They came after me they upheld the claim they offered the money. Now trying to get is sent to my address thats a different story. Sent my original bank statements(had to order them) heard nothing for 3 weeks rang a number i found got somenone who tried to help usual story not with us the dept handing your claim has no phone etc. He could see my info and was happy they were originals and would speak to the other department and said i should send a letter to back up the conversation. Duly did and they duly responded saying they were copies. I have since ordered 2 more months worth and have paid to have them authenticated by a lawyer. I am worried as i think this is a method to drag and drag this out untill you give up. Any similar probelms and is there light at the end of the tunnel.0

This will have been checked as part of their investigation. The problem is that not every Bank used pre-populated boxes selecting PPI and when they did it was at various different times. I think without any evidence to the contrary (you aren't sure yourself), you're going to have to accept that you mis-bought this insurance rather than being mis-sold it.If i remember rightly the PPI box was already pre-ticked.
You can refer to the Ombudsman, though, if you doubt the Bank has checked for a pre-ticked box. Expect a wait of around eighteen months if you do.0 -

I hope the amount of redress is worth all this cost and effort!
I'm certain this will be enough to convince the Bank...0
