So...the girls are your partner's children and they live with both of you? Or just with him and you live separately? How old are they?

Sorry I should've actually said all that in my post!!

OHs daughters and they live with him since he got full custody a few years ago. I moved in year and half ago. Ish. They're 17, 15 and 12.

Oldest should be able to look after the other two, to an extent, but she's more interested in hair/makeup/looks etc than even feeding herself, never mind her sisters :o

17 year old well, should be ok to look after herself. If that is a problem then is there a friend she could stay with?

Other two are under 16 and should therefore not have a choice and go on holiday with you, wherever they are told to, in my opinion. Especially the 12 year old.

I agree and what 12 year old would turn their nose up at a holiday, I'm surprised.

If they don't want to go, are there any grandparents/aunts they could stay with while you're away.

I chat with my children about where we are going on holiday and they express preferences, but the final decision is mine. I wouldn't let them dictate to me, altohugh I do believe that they are old enough to offer an opinion and give reasons for it.

12 year olds get told where they're going on holiday!

15 and 17 year olds get invited but should be allowed to stay at home/with grandparents if that's an option. They don't get to dictate or veto the destination!

The issue isn't with the girls though, its with your partner. He approached this all wrong, I think you need a good long talk.

The 17 year old is old enough to please herself and stay behind, try phrasing it differently to the other two. Not "do you want to go on holiday" but "we're going on holiday, help us choose the best one."

What were their objections, valid concerns about afraid of upsetting mum, or just being awkward teenagers? In a slumped kevin type of way.
