Buying a house that has tenants in it

OK. This may be a section 21 notice.
All that does is ask the tenants to move out.
If the EA thinks that this means that the tenant has to leave by August 10 they are either a muppet or stringing you along.
The Section 21 could be invalid (deposit not protected properly and prescribed information given, dates wrong, etc etc.)
If the LL managed to get it right (some who seek advice here manage to do it wrong twice and get it right third time) and the tenants decline to move out, then the LL has to get a court date.
Once it gets to court the LL has to get a possesion order and then they have to enforce it.
COuld be anything up to 5 months so you could be in for Christmas.
Well, that's worse case scenario, thanks for letting me know. Entirely possible - I have to face that fact - but is not too likely.0 -
Apparently, the tenants are moving out today!!!!!
If they do then that will be ahead of schedule, but I've had enough words of wisdom on this thread to curb any enthusiasm or optimism I may be in danger of showing so let's wait until next week and see if
A) they've moved out andif they've left the place with a roof on!
Please keep your fingers crossed for me...0 -
