Possibly a bit harsh.. he is being presented with all manner of doomsday scenarios and being asked what he will do to cope with them. In the scenarios where the tenants dig in and refuse to leave, he has little option but to wait it out. So for him to say that he and his buyer will just have to wait it out doesn't really suggest a callous attitude towards the buyer to me. It is just life.

The thing I did find a little odd was the urge to grab on to any hope that this could be made someone else's problem, in the face of multiple people repeatedly saying that wasn't the case. But, we seem to be past that now..
I think that the "someoene else's problem" was a misunderstanding. I put the question of what would happen if you bought a place without knowing it had tenants in it, a bit hypothetical, and turned up to find it occupied on the day you moved in. All very "what if" and I said I found it reassuring to know that the solicitors were there to help you and would be your recourse to resolve the situation. This was interpreted as me not planning to ensure that the property was empty myself when I'd said a few posts before that I would. All pointless and just what happens on message boards sometimes, you know?

I just dont think , by reading the thread , you are fully aware of the pressures you might end up under , should your buyer find himself waiting longer than he wants to , and pulls out

Please, then tell me what pressures and what I could do to resolve it? Otherwise accept that I'm monitoring the things I have control over and reconciled to those I don't.

would you be happy if you discovered your vendor was telling people he was happy to `drag out the sale as long as required`

    ?

No, but that is not how I read what he's been saying or what his motivations seem to be. He has no choice in how long it takes; he is hostage to what his vendor's tenants do. I am not reading any suggestion that he wants anything other than as quick a purchase as possible.

What do you mean? If you don’t understand the pressure you would be under having offered on a property but having no buyer means, then perhaps you need to visit the local library to obtain an idiots guide to selling and buying a house

I agree with what you say as in what will be will be , BUT my point was , your rather blaze attitude to your buyer , if that was to translate in any meaningful way to them , could cause you issues you haven’t accounted for

Thanks, that is how I see it. I just think that many people see this as an incredibly scary situation to get into and believe that I'm being way to blas!. The fact is that I've been through moments of real worry when I put in my offer. I know it will get stressful but that's further down the line.

Right now I half expect the whole thing to collapse anyway because it's a house sale and they are always prone to problems and issues so why not save worrying until it's something worth worrying about? Right now I'm just waiting, and not that bothered.

Fair point, thanks for letting me know. However, I'm not too worried about it. If I'm being honest in some ways I'm happy for the sale to drag on as long as it takes as I would be able to save up more money for the refurbishment of the new house so if it drags on over the summer then I can live with that. Again, if I lose the buyer for my flat then so be it, I'll just put it back on the market

All i am saying , is this doesnt come across as someone hoping to get everything in order in the best timescale possible , and one that would KEEP you your buyer (in as much as any buyer can be guranteed)

Of course I'm being blas!. The whole situation is prone to change at a moment's notice and he is probably in more of a position to mess me about than me him. He could change his mind, find somewhere he prefers, lose his job any number of things. I'm not responding to all the things I have to as quickly as I can, but I'm not going to go from laid back to intense until the situation becomes fixed and those contracts are exchanged.

Don't confuse my attitude to things I cannot control to my grasp of those that I do. My solicitor and my EA are on a short leash.
