Bed & Mattress World

Hi,
Has anyone on here ever bought from Bed & Mattress World?
They seem to do regular deals on groupon and ebay and I'm tempted to buy from them but dont know what the quality is like.
I'm looking at getting a king size ottoman bed with a 3000 pocket sprung with memory foam mattress.
any help or advice greatfully received!

Personally I wouldn't touch it, 3000 springs is a lot of springs in mattress and over kill IMO. I've had a look on their site no mention of what grade of memory foam or even the thickness of it.

As for Groupon just read that they take 50% plus VAT of any deals that the retailer does, so that really doesn't equal a great value for money product.
Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz
  • Hi,

I bought a Superking 3000 pocket sprung memory mattress from Beds & Mattress World a couple of months back when they were advertised on Groupon. I haven't got enough space here to tell you how useless their delivery company are; I'll just mention the mattress quality for now...

I don't know what the minimum amount of memory foam a mattress must contain for it to be described as such- I'm not actually convinced there is ANY in it. As it's no-turn you can reasonably conclude it's one-sided and I can't for the life of me work out which side it's supposed to be on. The same mattress is listed on their website for around £1100- you'd be livid if you paid that much. Think ours through Groupon was approx £380. I'd say it's probably worth little less than that, say £320, and that's looking at it as being a pocket sprung with no memory foam.

You know the useless delivery company I mentioned before- well they actually delivered 2 mattresses on different days even though I only paid for and ordered 1. Phoned to tell them, they weren't interested. Seriously contemplating taking a Stanley knife to the "spare" one to find out exactly what's in there because I don't believe for a second it's a true 3000 pocket sprung with memory foam mattress.
  • I bought a bed / mattress deal from Groupon and its a piece of crap, totally unfit for purpose, all the slats are too short and the weld that holds the metal together is so weak that after one night of sleeping on it it had pretty much collapsed. I'm a single 22 year old male, average build. This bed should not have collapsed.

Anyway I'm currently in an escalated dispute with groupon because bed and mattress world have ignored my emails and keep putting the phone down to me despite my pleas that i just want my money back as I need it to buy a new bed...

They just keep saying that if i've slept on it they wont return it or offer a refund because its now "second hand" - really upsetting and they're clearly trying to scare people off from claiming refunds for the appalling beds they sell. I really need the money back.

    I'll keep this thread updated.

I brought the bed off groupon from beds and mattress world, it arrived yesterday, we took it out of the packaging and we were horrified with such a rubbish product that is nothing like its described on the website. My partner packaged it all up and I rang them today to ask to return it, I spoke to a lady call Lauren who was so rude and really upset me and said no you can't return it as you have opened it, she then agreed for me to return the frame and I've taken an email to complain about the mattress. I'm so annoyed with the way they treated me on the phone. I'll keep you up to dat.
  • Hi, I've made contact with groupon and they have been really helpful, the bed has been returned to beds and mattress world, I have just got to get an email from them confirming they have received it and groupon will refund me the whole amount of money and I assume they will try and get the money from beds and mattress world. I'm just hoping beds and mattress world confirm they have received it. I will never buy a big product off line again!

I have now purchased a new bed from Bensons for Beds and they have been fantastic, I would recommend them, they have been so helpful and I ended up buying an ex display bed reduced from £1500 to £600, it's a bit more money but least I know what I'm getting, they also gave me a free mattress protector, a king size quilt, 2 pillows and duvet set....think they felt sorry for me.

I really do hope I get my money back cuss I need it now to put towards the new bed! Had anyone else had any luck getting there money back?
  • I would urge anyone not to bother using this company - I am so angry and annoyed with their service

*warning - full on rant about to happen * (my apologies)

We ordered the Reno sofa bed from Groupon, it did not turn up on the day they said it would, rang them and the courier (Panther) said it had been missed off the lorry and they couldn't seem to locate where it was....god knows how they managed to lose a double sofa bed?!

After 3 days of phone calls and hassle they found it(?!), rescheduled the delivery for the Saturday and was dropped off by a 2-man service (perfect as it was for my 83year old Grandmother who is unable to carry it inside herself). Unfortunately it turned out they had delivered the wrong one and she did not realise until after the courier had left as it took her a while to unpack (it arrived boxed)

I rang them on Tuesday (after the bank holiday) to arrange collection of the wrong one and delivery of the new one, the lady I spoke to seemed lovely and was really apologetic. She said another 2 man delivery would not be a problem and we booked it in for today.

.....(This is where I get really angry)....The driver turned up at my Nan's and refused to collect the old one as it was not booked by Bed & Mattress World to be collected. As he was by himself he also said he was only insured to take the sofa bed off the lorry but not put it inside the house. My Nan rang me to explain, so I spoke to the driver, explained that she was unable to carry it and would he please help her - he said he couldn't for insurance reasons. I apologised and said that if this was the case I would have to refuse delivery and reschedule for another time.

Having now rang Bed and Mattress World, they deny ever saying we could have a 2 man delivery as before and would only guarantee the product to be unloaded from the lorry, not carried inside. I politely said not to worry about it then, just please collect the wrong one and refund us our money...they are now charging me £50 for the pleasure of screwing up my deliveries on multiple occasions and sending the wrong thing!!

Sorry for the full on rant, but I would urge you to go elsewhere - the financial discount is not worth the hassle - I can assure you!!!

And now we will be sofa bed-less and £50 worse off :-(

I don't suppose it was made by Apollo Beds?
  • Did you pay by credit card?

No, we paid by debit card, does that make a difference?

Yes, because you can make a claim through your credit card company if they mess you about. Some debit cards also allow this.
