I think this thread was a very valuable exercise, if only for demonstrating that there isn't really a set pattern, and that trying to keep a 'clean sheet' with all the agencies is prudent for anyone who wants credit.0 -

NW searched equifax in June for me ??
Next I believe use Experian as a recently opened account search is not logged with EquifaxIf I helped or saved you money - Thank me

Hi guys,
This is a brilliant thread, I think it really shows the power of the forums. We've been working on a list like this for a little while, getting official responses (as YB says above, a lot of credit companies use both) but once we've got it fully together, it'll be cool to compare it to this and make it even more comprehensive.Former MSE team member0 -

I also noticed that registering with what are traditionally mailorder companies (FiftyPlus, ShoeTailor) resulted in Experian searches for only registering with them! I can't recall that I authorised them during sign-up, or even that I signed up for an account, but that's what the credit agencies say I did), but will pay more attention in future to hidden smallprints....
That is most likely to be because Experian is now the main business arm of GUS (Great Universal Stores) the old and ex mail-order/catalogue giant.
Disagree YB,
I have had Loadsa credit cards with high limits from Experian searches, refusals or low limits from Equifax ones, must check it out now only £2.

Whe I was asking the bank to give me a commercial loan to renovate a house they did a security check on me and my satus came back clean for the company the bank used...but I know on one of them my student loan CCJ (now paid) stands out and has stopped m getting normal mortgages before.... lucky eh? I have a feeling it was experion that the bank used...0

No, I think it is probably because you agree to be searched in the small print of the registration process. If you believe that this is not the case and any GUS company has abused their relationship with Experian you should complain to Experian and raise a dispute with the Data Protection Commissionaire.0 -

Where and when will this official list be published? A lot of the data from MSErs on this thread is contadictory so it would be good to have it from the horses mouth.0 -

Sorry, which part of my post(s) do you disagree with? My comment that we're wasting our time because the providers "chop and change" CRA's, or my list of who searched who, and who reports to who?
