Hello,
I've had searched from both Experian and Equifax.
I would say from experience that the Experian search is a more complete/thorough search and more representative of my credit history.
As for which company uses which agency I found this on the MSE website:

Checked my reports. Capital one searched both Equifax and Experian, but the search on Experian was unrecorded.
Aqua and Tesco search Experian.0 -
I got both my Experian and Equifax online accounts at the same time. The difference between the 2 are strange! Equifax shows I have 1 active credit at my current address and 4 accounts that have been settled in the past 6 years. Experian shows I have 4 current credit files at my address and 14 settled accounts from others in the past 6 years????0
