    'Yes I will get compensation, I always do, why is this so wrong?'

    Can you elaborate on this little gem?

    Hence if NHBC (or whoever you are dealing with) were taken to task you would have to identify the tile, the manufacturer, the precise fixing requirements for your location and proof that this was not met - if indeed it was not met. In practical terms this would be beyond the capability of most home owners.

    .

    As I have been taken to task on this one I will explain my reasoning.

    If I approached 100 home owners and asked them;
    Were your roof tiles made by Cemex, or Russell, or Redland etc?
    What is the pattern name for the tile?
    What is the pitch of your roof?
    What degree of exposure does your roof experience?
    What is your OS grid reference for your roof?

    I suspect only a few could answer these questions. Hence, as I explained, it is beyond the ordinary knowledge of home owners to challenge the fixing of roof tiles.

    We bought our house brand new. 3 Years later the whole estate had to have their ridge tiles replaced at the builders had used the incorrect mortar! Or in some case like our garage none at all!!! it took them months to do the whole lot! Quite a few had to have part ot their roofs retiled also!! Oh and then in doing that they caused a problem with the gas flues which in turn had to be repaired! And our roof timber frame was for the first 6 weeks not attached to the bricks! And they forgot to attach the waste pipe from the main bathroom to the main drain so our first day here was spend with the builders digging up the back garden!! The joys or a new build!!!

    If you don’t believe my account that’s fine, I don’t get pleasure from making up such silly and unusual situations. What would the purpose be?

    Well you tell us. The fact is that we're thirty posts in to the thread you started and still no one really understands exactly what your issue is! That you started the thread by saying "my roof fell off" but then failed to really elaborate has not helped so no wonder people are making comments about compensation when you start off in such a dramatic way.

    So yes do tell us what the purpose is in being a wind up merchant as opposed to just getting to the point!? :)

    If you don’t want to help or don’t agree simply don’t post!
    People who want to help are still trying to understand your problem. As for not agreeing, it's difficult to agree or disagree when no one knows what we are discussing.
  • Thanks for the advice and accounts provided me some, these really go a long way and help me to get things sorted, at least I know I'm not alone in this type of case :-)
