I have seen it happen that sometimes the workshy or inept, who wouldn't cope on a busy main ward get 'parked' in day surgery/outpatient type jobs. Once a couple of the same type have been parked in the same department, you get a very destructive dynamic, consisting of "not my jobbers" who hide behind every single rule and regulation they can muster. It damages the name and reputation of every health care professional by association, and for that reason needs addressing.
If it were me, I would film it anyway, regardless, if that's what it took to get my point across. You may find that since the recent NHS scandals about patient care, that your complaints go further this time, as it is a political hot potato, and nothing moves the NHS quicker than politics!0 -
Such a dreadful situation to be in OP. I really feel for you.
I would try PALS first as they have always been useful when I have needed to use them, although not for such an awful situation.
I'd be inclined to keep a diary of events while you are there, if you are able to write whilst having treatment.
I wish you well.0 -
Sorry i havent posted but my old pc is playing up! I value all your advice. Sadly ive been down the 'diary' route before and kept detailed notes of everything that happened including the wrong medication. They had altered the dates in my file to make it look like it was the week it was due. I have sat and had numerous meetings in the past with the sister and the matron who just basically paid me lip service and did nothing as a result of that its obvious some nurses hold a grudge and its represented in how im treated. I spoke to the sister again today and she said i was 'misunderstanding' and none of her nurses would be off with me. I also found out today from a senior consultant that some surgery could help reduce some of the pain and yet 2 weeks ago my dr there told me nothing could be done. I think im going to have to try and film to prove who is saying and doing what to me. Thanks for your support. I just find fighting my corner so hard when im so exhausted.0

What a shame you haven't got anyone that could go with you - even to the extent that they just drop you off at the door so the nurses can see you are not alone. Sometimes if they know there is someone else about things 'change' - if you lived near me IHD I'd come myself!!! Not anywhere near London/Essex, are you?!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Oh ihd, I am sorry. It's so difficult and I really do sympathise. I am lucky, my dh has always attended with me when I started feeling 'not trusting' and I hardly ever have to seek medical treatment now. Infact, its that sort of treatment which sees me self manage and treat.:o. And yes, it's always 'the patient's misunderstanding'. Not conflicting information or anything. The silly thing is, I don't know about you, but I would feel much safer and happier if they said 'we made a mistake, sorry'. The making it seem as if the patient is Nuts or difficult.
I think, despite my lack of success, PALS would be a good step.0 -
I am guessing (given your username and descriptions) that you are on dialysis.
inevitably the majority of patients will be long-term- have you considered that the majority
may enjoy the light-hearted and relaxed environment?
In relation to pain... If this pain occurs every time you go, why not get something prescribed by your go and take it before you go. The unit may not have a doctor there all the time so it may be rather difficult to arrange a prescription, even if they have the drug in stock.0 -

Lighthearted and relaxed is very different to discourteous and inattentive.0 -

If that doesn't get them thinking then they need reporting.
This is a quality issue, you need to starting talking in a language that the managers understand and that is CQC and NHSLA. Make it known that you are aware of CQC and NHSLA and will contact them if care does not improve. They would not want to risk an inspection.0 -
This is the weblink for reporting a care establishment if you choose to go down this route, but I would first speak to a manager and state that if your concerns are not addressed then you next step is to contact the CQC

Sorry just spotted this, this is also governance issue and should be addressed with the Caldecott Guardian at the Trust as incorrect records are being kept. If not it is an issue for the Information Commissioner, I think doctoring medical notes is a criminal act.
Edited, on second faults, leave it to CQC. Tell them everything you have posted here and they will hopefully get to the bottom of it. Thinking of you.0
