Pet hates when travelling

  • Early this year we did have a bathroom that had the light switch on the wall the furthest wall away, not much fun in the middle of the night when it has been known to be dark

Why are there never enough hangers in the wardrobes?

Towel art!! What’s that all about?? Just hang them in the bathroom (where I intend on using them) please

Shampoo / shower gel sachets that you can’t open with wet hands

Worst of all for me are people who run to or push in front of you at the baggage carousel… cos we all know that’s how you make your luggage arrive quicker! They are closely followed by those who stand right behind you with a trolley rammed up against your ankles!!

My biggest issue before travelling though is reading hotel reviews just to find people moaning on about weather / airline/ beaches / other nationalities blah blah blah…

    I've been Money Tipped!
People who let their kids queue at the baggage carousel, usually in front of you, so there's a good chance that you'll whack them with your case as you swing it off.

Hotels pretending they want to be as environmentally friendly as possible by asking you to not change your towels so often. Just come out with it !!!!!!, we all know you simply want to save money, so say so.
You don't see notices asking you to save the planet by taking it easy on the mini-bar or maybe forgoing the odd pay movie do you?

People who don't know how to queue and respect personal space (commonly known as "The French"). The number of times I have been waiting as next in line but keeping a respectful distance from the person being served only for someone else to nip in in front of me. (Of course being British my usual response if a tut and a hard stare). Then when I'm being served there is someone hanging over my shoulder. Get back!

    Hotels:
    - no free electric sockets. We all travel with gadgets these days that need recharging. I've often had to unplug the TV or fridge in order to charge my phone
    - dingy lighting. Get some brighter bulbs!
    - Complex TVs. I just want BBC1, not go through 10 levels of menus for movies, room service or tourist information.

Completely agree ref queuing. I fly to the middle east fairly frequently and *some* nationalities just don't have any concept of queuing, especially at the gate. As soon as the boarding announcement goes out there's an undignified stampede. We all have allocated seats so it not like you're going to end up standing is it???

People with wheelie-type hand luggage who stop suddenly in front of you while heading for your seat on the plane making you stub your toe on their bag.

Also get aggravated by inadequate lighting in hotel rooms and lousy hairdryers that make me think if I blew on my hair it would dry quicker.

Surly hotel receptionists who react as if you've asked them to hand over their first born if you dare to ask them a question.

Hotel descriptions that promise "Wifi in every room" while neglecting to mention that there's a supplement to pay.

Shower curtains that billow inwards while you are showering and wrap themselves around you in a cold, clammy embrace.

And shower screens that fail spectacularly in keeping water inside the shower so you step out into a minor flood on the bathroom floor.

    I could go on... ;)

We call that target practice :D
