in manage wireless networks, it says wireless is not currently enabled. When I click Add, I get a message "Windows wireless service is not running"
Apologies for the obvious question but is wifi actually turned on on the computer (is it a laptop or desktop)? it could be a physical switch somewhere, or a Fn key, or a setting. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
It's a desktop, but I wouldn't know how to switch wireless on!Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

It's usually the laptops with a physical switch that cause issue (i.e switch inadvertently set to off...)
Just in case it is off for whatever reason, go to the Network & Sharing Centre and on the left hand side click on "change adapter settings" in that window there will be 2 icons, 1 for Ethernet and 1 for Wireless Network - does it say Disabled under the wifi icon? If so, right click on the wifi icon and the first option in the list will be "enable"Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
There is mo wifi icon, only "Local Area Connection Network 2"Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

Then the next obvious question would be does your PC have a wireless card at all? Would be really surprising if it didn't come with one, what make/model is it?Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

If you still have the paperwork from when you bought it, check through that because after a quick look on the net, it seems like a wireless card might have been an optional extra rather than included as standard.
If it did come with a wireless card then there's something really wrong somewhere, and if it didn't then the easiest would probably be to buy one of those usb adapters. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
The 530 needs an additional card fitted, check the Bios to see if it can see one or under device manager.0
