I'm trying to set my PC to connect to my Belkin router wirelessly.
I go into Network and Sharing Centre, select "set up a new connection or network", enter my 8 digit PIN from the router, but get a message "The PIN is incorrect."
It's not incorrect and we use 2 laptops in the house wirelessly with no problems.
any thoughts?

Are you on Vista? I had problems with Vista and WPA2 encryption and had to set it to WPA in the router settings as it kept telling me my key was wrong. It's a Vista issue.
Does the wireless card on your computer support the security/encryption level you have set on the router?0 -
Windows 7. There is no problem with security.Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

You might be putting in the wrong thing, is there anything marked as 'WPA Key' or similar on the router? It will likely be a mix of letters and numbers0

Alternatively you could copy the wifi configuration from one of the connected laptops via a usb key.

When we configured the laptops, all we were asked for was the password, which was a combination of letters and numbers. The box is clearly asking for an 8 DIGIT number. If I try the password, it tells me so!Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

Usually when one system won't connect to a wireless network that others will connect to fine it is a problem with the network adapter not liking the encryption level due to age or because it's drivers are out of date. Update the drivers for your network adapter and 9/10 this will fix the issue.
You say it is a Windows 7 system which would usually mean that it is relatively new but you could have installed Win7 on an older system or even be using an older wireless adapter. Look up the manual for your wireless adapter, if it is old it may only support WEP.0 -
I checked my network adaptor and it is up to date.
I don't have a manual for the router. It is a Belkin G Model F5D7234-4 v3. I've checked their site and updated the router but still get the same message.Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0 -
Have you tried changing the encryption level just in case there is a problem there?
Are you using the default key as on the sticker on the router or have you changed it?0 -
I wouldn't know how to change an encryption level, and there is not a key, it is a PIN on the sticker on the base of the routerEven if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

Ah. Is it labelled WPS PIN? That will be different to the wireless key.0
