I will be interested to see the forums when they are up and running, but it looks good so far!
My main issue with the current forum layout is the subforums are difficult to find out about unless you know they are there or are pointed to them by someone else. Will this change in the new site?
No it won't change that. The key thing to remember is this is a 'makeover' it isn't a change of operating procedure. These forums run on a bought in software package called Vbulletin; and it operates around that.
We're looking to change the cosmetic look of it rather than much more. The problem with making subfolders bigger is it makes navigating the main forum page much more difficult. Also for the moment our aim is to do one thing at a time. Too much change in one go puts people off. So the new look forum will essentially work just like this one does now.

Martin, the new site looks fab, I think it looks a lot more modern and user friendly.
I do like the layout of the current site, and will be a little sorry to see if go (until I get used to the new one that is!!) but I will be glad to see the back of the minging beige/off white/pale brown colour that you see so much of on this site!!

Nice one guys - looks really good
FWIW, I think having the site look maybe slightly less professional is a good thing, and was intentional?

When I had a look at your new-look website I thought that the colour of the text in the terracotta boxes down the left-hand side made it unreadable. Shouldn't the font colour be white as on this page?0

Did you click the images in the first post of this thread? There are no boxes on the left? Are you sure you're not looking at the current site?

I think it looks better, I was a bit overwhelmed by how much stuff is on the front page when I first joined but that looks a bit more straightforward and simpler to navigate. SuperI'm an MSE winner!

Wow, really good from what I have seen. I must admit I found it a bit hard to find the right thread when I first started (actually, more like getting back to it once I was on it).
Best of luck with the changeover - I love this site, so as long as it's still here, any look is good to me...LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
Great site. Well done, everyone. Provided the speed of page loading improves, it should be fantastic.:hello: Stand up and be counted. Grumbling without doing something gets you nowhere.0
