when you scroll up and down the centre of the screen goes weird. a big block of the screen moves at a different pace to the rest.
Well spotted. :) If you click on any of More on MoneySaving, Who is Martin Lewis?, Where do I start? or How's the site financed? you’ll see the reason why. There are initially hidden parts of the page, sitting there ready to pop up and display their information. Even when hidden, they’re effecting the way the window’s contents is handled.

I’m guessing the problem isn’t visible on Windows Vista with the Aero interface enable, as this uses compositing to construct the desktop. Also, the style sheet breaks in Internet Explorer 6. IE6 apparently has buggy support for position:fixed. With the current code, the div elements get placed in-line and that completely breaks the formatting for the whole page.

The page is borked in Firefox !

Seeing a large block of blank white under the top tabs.

The 'Search' box is displaced over the 'Free Money Tips Email' logo.

    Hey Hermann,

Can I ask which version of Firefox you are using and on what Operating System? I'm going to assume its a version pre 1.5 but would be interesting to know for my testing.

    Thanks

    I'm using Firefox 1.03 (specifically Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3) with Windows XP SP2.
Edit Sorry that should be Windows ME !

The displaced search box seems to be worst on the home page, on other pages it seems to be ok.

All pages have the blank white block.

Also noticed that the light green background to the right hand panel is missing.

I'll organise hosting a screen shot when I get a minute (problems with current hosting!) or pm me an email addy and I'll email some screenies if you wish.

I've had a look with Firefox 2.0.0.3 and all seemed OK, no blank section & no displaced search box.

1.0.3? Support for Firefox 1 ended over a year ago, and that was five security updates after 1.0.3. See Sunset Announcement for Fx/Tb 1.0.x.

  • Thanks Alfie,

You are correct in mentioning that this is an out of date browser but its worth knowing that its broken. It was an issue with stylesheet function not working in those versions. Hopefully should be fixed up now to work in all ffox versions.

    Thanks
