I think the frontpage is too busy, for instance it's about 3 to 4 screen lengths on my configuration. Your stats people should be able to see how many links below the fold are actually clicked.
The layout works well when you increase the font size (I'm getting old so accessability is comming to the fore).
I'd remove the sitemap and content links from the top right navigation bar. Sitemap link is present in the footer navigation bar. IMHO, a prominent Sitemap link is useful if you only display a subsection of the site but the front page seems to link to most, if not all, the site.0 -
Who's the ugly guy top left???
Only kidding!
I quite like it, but think it is quite busy. Newbies will run a mile - it certainly isn't easy on the eye. Too much going on.0 -
To be grammatically correct, there does.
To Form Possessives
The apostrophe is also used to mark the possessive. The possessive tells the reader that someone or something owns or possesses the thing that comes after the possessive. Here are five examples:
Ronni’s word processor
the banker’s log book
the bank’s holdings
the nation’s GNP
the year’s end
The possessive noun in each of the examples above (Ronni’s, banker’s, bank’s, nation’s, year’s) indicates to the reader that something is owned by something or someone else. In most cases, to make the possessive you simply add an ’s to the end of the noun. This is quite easy. The problem arises when a noun is both plural and possessive. Certainly, there can be more than one Ronni, and they both can own the word processor. Or more than one banker can own the log book. In such cases, you simply place the apostrophe after rather than before the s:
Ronnis’
bankers’
banks’
nations’
Some writers become confused when they must make a possessive of singular nouns that already end in s. As usual, you make the possessive by adding ’s to the word; however, some writers and editors argue that the two s’ are redundant and that therefore you can eliminate the second s, ending up with the s’. That is, they argue that there is really no need to include an s after the apostrophe, since the apostrophe already tells readers that the word is possessive. Others argue that you should drop the final s only on words of several syllables but retain it on short words. Since there is no agreement on this difficult problem, you must make your own choice. However, regardless of which option you choose, do remember to be consistent. Here are three nouns which already end in s and their corresponding possessive forms:
James James’s James’
Jones Jones’s Jones’

I have recently subscribed to this web site and have come across many interesting articles.
I enjoy reading all the different items - many of which i would never have thought to have looked up. Im wondering though, that on the new updated site, will i miss all those things that make me interested in finding out about things i had never thought about.
You see, i don't really search for specific things, so the way the site is displayed at present, alerts me to things i had never thought about.
Not sure if the new way of displaying things will inspire me to read further though i can understand why you have updated it.
Sorry, but dont mean to sound negative.0 -
The new site looks great.
Please help, though - I can't get onto the bank charges success stories forum; is this because it's always busy? Every time I click on the link the screen goes blank.
By the way: one s or two are both correct. English grammar is a living, changing phenomenon and what was 'correct' 50 years ago is not necessarily deemed to be so anymore. For example the absence of punctuation in addresses is now perfectly correct as is a blank line as opposed to an indent to mark paragraph breaks. It's your choice.0 -
Ba da da da da.... I'm loving it!0

What would be useful, if it hasn't been mentioned already, is to be able to Print Forum Threads out. Previously I have not been able to find a "print version" button, so when I printed a really useful thread out, the text would get chopped off the right hand side of the paper.
Having a "print version", without all the menus and navigation bars included would be fantastic. Would also cut down on paper and save me more money!

The new site looks great, but please can the 'Ignore' function be sorted out so that it works for all members. From what I can gather, any members whose member name begins with a capital letter can't be put on ignore. Having their posts visible when you don't want them to be (a) increase the tempation to respond to them, & (b) encourage those of that frame of mind to create an extra account beginning with a capital letter to make inflammatory posts/spam mail to use for that. Thanks.
Also, please can someone correct "'Ones Not Too Miss". Thanks.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."
