Dithering_Dad wrote: »Thanks TigTag & cate I have to admit that as I was thinking about little Lulu's funny little run and daft hops and lovely nature I started to get some sort of strange watery film over my eyes that made the PC screen go all fuzzy. I've no idea what that was because being a real man, I'm clearly not used to having that happen. *cough*
Have you had your eyes lasered too then :rotfl: :rotfl:

DD - I am so very pleased for you - it has brought a real smile to my face. My eldest has Cystic Fibrosis and I can hand on heart say I would not have her any other way. My littlest has 50% chance of survival when she was born and is now a wonderfully healthy happy little girl. Both of these things have contributed to their wonderful characters.

It was a bit of a nightmare. We have had to appeal 3 times but we found out yesterday that Lu will get full-time support until she is toilet trained and then the support will go down to 15 hrs a week. Really chuffed.
You should get in touch with the school's SENCO who will get an educational psychologist to do a review of your son (we had 3 visits I seem to recall). As your son has been diagnosed it will make the whole process much easier. Get ready for a shed load of form filling though. You might also want to look at getting Disability Living Allowance for your son. Good luck, and always always keep pushing because if your LEA is anything like mine, they will try and wrangle out of paying. We got there in the end though!

Hi DD, I have just come across your thread and I would like to say you are not rubbish at being a Dad at all, you and your wife seem to be doing a fabulous job in very difficult circumstances.
My son, now 8, was diagnosed 2 years ago. The worst part for me was getting other people to understand something that they had never even heard of.
My MIL was awful until I sat her down and explained that although DS had this problem it wasn't the end of the world and he would just need to take things at his own pace.
He has been receiving Occupational Therapy sessions for 2 years in school, the local authority finally contacted me earlier this year to see if there was anything they could do. After chatting for a while with a very lovely lady, she readily admitted that they really do not know what to do for these children. I could tell her more on how to help my son progress than she could and she is the professional.
I would not change my wonderful boy for anything in the world and the only problem I have is trying to explain to people why my perfectly normal looking rather tall 8 year old needs handling differently to other children.
Well I've rattled on a bit sorry.
I just wanted to say you are all at the beginning of a very long, tiring, but extremely worthwhile journey with Lu.
And I wish you all the best in whatever you all do.
