Dithering_Dad wrote: »Hi chevalier, Lucy was also allergic to cows milk when she was a baby, though didn't have a reaction anything like your son's. We used to get her soya milk, which I think in some ways was better for her anyway. She's fine though now. She may have gotten that from me because I have a reaction to cream - it makes my mouth tingle and me dizzy. Doesn't stop me eating cream cakes though, I am prepared to put up with the consequences, cakes are great!

I had a long, hard think about how I feel about Lucy's problems and I can say that hand on heart (apart from the toiletting) if I could wave a wand and make her "normal" I don't think I would. She has a unique personality because of her issues and so if she didn't have her problems, she wouldn't be the same person. The way she shouts "come on Daddy lets run" and then runs in her crap way with arms everwhere while I walk beside her is just delightful. She says "Look at me hop Dad" and then does something odd that she calls a 'hop', which is a bit like a jump but with one leg higher than the other. Best of all is her sweet nature, and this is what we think will get her through life, kids and adults just can't help liking her and wanting to help her or look out for her. She's a sweetie and I wouldn't change her for the world.
Read that back to yourself and ask how can you possibly consider, even for a moment, that you're a crap dad!!!!!!

Completely out of the blue I had a phone call last night from a company in Manchester who have offered me a 6 month contract just 40 mins commute from my house!! The only other "iron in the fire" I had was a possible 3 month contract in Brussles (which was getting me down in light of recent events). If I was a religious person I would have had hairs stood up on the back of my neck when I got the phone call! It's just perfect, and I didn't even apply for it or have an interview for it (the resource manager knows me and knew that I was available in June). When fate closes a door, it opens a window!
Mrs D is over the moon and I'll be home every night now for 6 months, with a possible extension if more work comes along. Chuffed
Fantastic news! :T So pleased for the Dithers!!! This'll give you lots more time together! :T :T :T :j :j :j0 -
Hi DD
Oh wow well done about the new contract! Sometimes fate takes a hand doesn't she!
I am glad you wouln't change Lucy, I wouldn't change my DS1 either, but it does get hard as my other son has no allergies, and first son is just starting to resent that a bit. Sigh.
What a great time to get a contract that means you will be at home more. Over the summer when you can do so much with Lucy, even if it is just play ball in the back garden.
Well done
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

We're getting Lu a trampoline (surrounded with a net thing for safety) for her birthday on Sunday, which we know she'll love and which will also help develop her balance, etc. The only problem with it is that the maximum weight is 14 stones, so as Mrs D kindly pointed out, I'll have to lose some weight if I'm going on it with Lu. I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to do that because ALL of my weight consists of bones, gristle and huge muscles, with just enough fat to keep me alive. If anyone has any ideas on how to lose some of my muscle mass, please let me know
Thanks TigTag & cate I have to admit that as I was thinking about little Lulu's funny little run and daft hops and lovely nature I started to get some sort of strange watery film over my eyes that made the PC screen go all fuzzy. I've no idea what that was because being a real man, I'm clearly not used to having that happen. *cough*Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Btw if you are back the second Sunday in June there was a post on the freebie board about local farms having open days and not only is it free, it is also something that your daughter should enjoy and learn from and it sounds like a great way of spending some quality time together.Debt Free - done

I've got Amber a trampoline too for her birthday, she keeps breaking beds by bouncing on them! I bet lulu will love it, you could lop off an arm or something to get your weight down? Men only need one arm don't they? It's not like they could do two things at once, so surely the other one's a spare.:A

Hi DD, I'm sorry to hear of your problems. Can I pm you?
