TV Licence

Hi,
I missed a payment on my TV licence and have been advised that it is likely I will face legal action for this (in spite of having a current TV licence prior to this and reinstating my payment plan immediately after this was brought to my attention when a TV Licensing Officer turned up at my door). I believe I have valid reasons for this missed payment and have attempted to deal with this matter with TV Licensing directly, to no avail.
However I have been advised by friends that I should have been given the opportunity to make up the missed payment, therefore covering me for the time I was without one. Is this correct?
I have looked on the TV licensing website (which is less than informative) and could not find anything that says as such, but would gladly make up the missed payment in order to rectify the matter.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately its your responsibility to pay for the license. Therefore I think its very unlikely you'll get away with this.
Once they've got you they tend to be very unsympathetic. I think previous people on here with the same issue got a £100 fine.

Oh dear, seems the TV Tax Collection thugs have sent another imitated letter. The OP has a current TV Tax stamp, and is not watching illegally, therefore is not committing any offence and is unlikely to be prosecuted.
What OP can do is make her mind up whether or not she wants to continue in the future to pay this TV Tax. If you only watch Catch Up TV and do not watch Live Broadcasts, you do not have to pay the TV Tax. All you have to do is remove your aereial or leads, tape them back. Sit and wait. they have to gather evidence against you, not the other way.

It sounds like it wasn't a letter. It sounds like they turned up at the OPs house and they admitted not having a license. I would suggest they don't need to gather any evidence as they've admitted the offence! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. What is the point in removing their aerial or leads?
As long as someone has access to the internet they have the facility to watch live TV so wasting time or money getting the aerial disconnected is pointless.
You don't need a licence because you have the means to watch live TV. You only need the licence if you actually watch live TV so it's fine to leave the aerial and leads where they are provided that they are not used.0 -

You sound like someone who cuts off their nose to spite their face. :rotfl:
Your crusade to avoid paying taxes isn't really helpful to the OP.0 -
This thread feels very familiar - didn't someone else post recently with the exact same situation? (Missed a single TVL payment due to a failed DD). It wasn't the OP because THIS one has a single post.0

This is the other one.
Not sure whether they're the same. The other thread said the OP had a direct debit set up, but there wasn't enough money in the account to collect, for which TVL has a system for dealing with.
This one appears that the OP didn't have any payment system set up.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -
Wrong. I do not watch Live TV!George_Michael wrote: »As long as someone has access to the internet they have the facility to watch live TV so wasting time or money getting the aerial disconnected is pointless.
Therefore, I do not pay the TV Tax.
It is for the TV Tax Collector thugs who have to gather evidence that I contravene their regulations, not the other way round.
As for being connected to the internet, I have watched this weekend LIVE, two rugby matches (Nottingham v Bedford and the Women's 7's) Both live! They were not broadcast on TV.
Proud to not pay the TV Tax0 -

You still need a TV licence to watch any live TV on line: http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/topics/technology--devices-and-online-top8/0 -
A question.
I don't have a television set, etc. I don't "watch or record television programmes, on any device, as they're being shown on TV". Therefore, I consider that I don't need a broadcast receiving licence.
However, my partner has been visiting this weekend, and was watching the GP live on her laptop. I wasn't watching, although I could hear the sound.
However, on my way back into the room from the bathroom, I glanced at the screen. Does this mean that I now need a licence? If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?
