    Let us know what they say as I think they are fundamentally misunderstanding the concept.

    The following is the reply received from the TV licencing body. I note that they make no reference to the possibility of only seeing saved (not live) programmes. Not sure why the question marks have appeared but I haven't removed them.


    Thank you for contacting us.
    One television licence covers the following people to use a television at the named address:
    ? the person named on the licence
    ? anyone living as part of the family at the address shown
    ? anyone working at or visiting the address


    If part of the premises is being rented to someone who has a television in their own room, they will require a separate licence.
