Rumour has it that HPI will get a shot in the arm from a re-introduction of MIRAS for FTBers at least for the first five years. This is going to be Gordon's coronation gift to the unwashed masses.

    You heard it hear first!!
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

I wonder if Martin would set up a sub-board for like minded House Price Crash enthusiasts to swap statistics.

I think we're all fine here thanks saint. Perhaps the heading of the forum 'House buying, renting, selling & Property Prices' has confused you. If you'll like we'll start a board up for you 'Train and Bus Timetables'

I understand there is also another .25% increase priced into thew futures market already, so 5.75% is very likely.

However, the next inflation report doesn't come out until August (there was one this month), and the BoE see it about two weeks before we do, and before they make their decision, so it might be August until we see another rate rise.

I do believe that 6% is priced into the futures market.

The rumours are for a rise before August, June or July. Mainly due to subtle hints within the minutes from the May interest rate rise decision.

6% is no good. We need at least 10% to sort the housing market out in London

10% would do more than sort the housing market out..... we're talking massive recession, maybe even a depression. millions of job cuts, unemployment, 100s maybe 1000s of companies moving offshore as fast as their little legs can carry them. Money would still be flowing into the country like rats though to get the extra interest.... Mortgage payments would double and even people who could afford it at 8% would be out on the streets. Banks wouldnt lend a farthing in this instance, so nobody would be able to buy all the properties they would be reposessing (probably not at any price).

Be careful what you wish for.
