At what age did you opt to buy your first property?

In 1974 at the age of 21. Not many single women bought property at that age in those days, but I came home from finishing at college, and my father suggested that it was do-able on my salary. I did have lodgers to help pay the mortgage in the early days. Very grateful to my father, as I wouldn't have thought it possible until he mentioned it.
Interest rates soon over 15%, so when they went down I kept on making the same payments which took 7 extra years off the term. Good financial decisions!0 -
34 and buying first home, not so much opting to wait till now but my work hasn't really made it practical till now, travelling all the time, long periods away from home, meant living out of two bags proved more practical then owning property.
Gave me an opportunity to save a decent deposit and now ready to put down some roots. :-)House Buying Tracker:

Age 26, in 2004. We were moving around for work before then, so it didn't make sense until then. We're on our 3rd house now, won't be moving from here for years, if ever :-)0

It was 18 months ago and I was 48. It wasn't that I "opted" to wait until that age - circumstances meant that I couldn't afford it before.0

26, over 35 years ago.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

I bought my first place in 2010 at the ripe old age of 37 so I'm close to the modern average. I spent all of my 20s skint and only started earning decent money at 30. I can't see how I could have bought much earlier.
Now I'm 40 (shudder), most of my friends my age now own their own place but there are still a few who rent. Some could afford to buy but prefer the flexibility that renting allows while others are convinced that they will never be able to buy.0 -
I am in my early 40s and never have nor would consider buying a property. Am much more comfortable with renting.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Working away from home shouldnt stop you buying a house.
I have been sent overseas on assignment a number of times in my career, and it was great to have someone else paying the mortgage while I was away

Sole FTB last year at 37. Been saving seriously for about 10 years so had a large deposit - family not able to help so all hard graft and careful money management. However would be effectively mortgage free if/when My girlfriend and I move in together,0
