36. When I suddenly realised houses were getting past my price range and it was now or never. Before that I was happily spending the money on holidays and having fun. I don't regret leaving it so late but I'm glad I got in when I did as I couldn't afford anything round my way nowadays. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
My husband and I were 19, that was in 1999. Only bought as cheaper than renting and had 100% mortgage. Bought for £52,000 and sold 3 years later for £95,000.0

26, about 11 days before my 27th birthday which was my deadline. Bought on my own, no help from parents.
Wish I had had the sense to buy at 18, properties would have been literally half the price.Emergency savings: 4600

27 (2004).
The only way i was able to do it was because my partner at the time (now my wife) had a decent deposit stashed away.
I was awful with money up until my mid-20s. The money I wasted on the 'student lifestyle' up until that point was shocking...:o0 -

Last year at 28yrs old. Wish I'd done it 10yrs earlier but my mind was on university......hindsight, eh?I have a simple philosophy:
Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.

Age 35 as a first time buyer, so I fit the statistic.
However, saved up and did it for cash, so no mortgage. It wasn't part of some master plan though--just that work paid for my living expenses for a few years as I took jobs requiring a lot of travel so spent the time saving until i could figure out where I wanted to live finally!0
