Woo hoo! I know how it feels paying your debts off - I just paid mine off too!
I must admit your utility bills do strike me as being expensive! How many of you are in the house?0 -
hi factory
We have 4 in our house. Its a 3 bed semi so not huge. I'm a stickler for plugs being turned off, dh tries but often forgets!
I only use the tumble dryer when absolutely necessary, turn off plugs, only boil what is needed etc. I'm sure there are many other areas i could save, I really need to have a good luck, especially in preparation for winter (feels strange saying that in this heat!).
the credit card now reads £0! Yippee! feels even better seeing it. I'm now working a budget to put money in different pots including OPs for the mortgage. I also can add another small OP to my tally. That one every months for the past three months
in other areas - i've convinced hubby to decorate our bedroom (only needed paint and accessories, so quite cheap and it'll really brighten up the room) so we bought the paint today. I'm in progress of decluttering and have so much to rehome. A lot I would like some pennies for but its hard these days with postage being so high.....MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
hoping for a nsd today.
need to pop to the post office and return an item (free) and pay some pennies into girls a/c.
Have lots of shopping in (i've just done an inventory of the freezer and it really is the new back of the sofa!).
washing was out, now back in due to a shower but i think i'll risk it again in a mo.
pizza dough mixed ready for dinner tonight.MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -

Mortgage free wannabe
Gas and electric bill £70 pm (£30 gas - very low as we have not had the heating on in this glorious weather! I need to try and make the house warmer in winter. Im thinking draft excluder pillow type thing for the front door, big curtain over there too as we get the wind straight off the sea in winter its v cold! Id love a new front door but ive no idea how much they are.....
I read on another diary about flavoured vodka or gin. Ive attempted some too, going to be hard waiting three months to drink! !MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -

Thanks for the comment on my diary tootoo, I have just updated. Well done on paying off your credit card - you are right it makes so much more sense to do it that way around :-)
Stacey x2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0 -
thank you ixia IWAB.
i made another op, feeling good about them. Although Im now wondering whether to stay here and if so maybe i should save to do the things which would make a difference or not? I'm putting a few pounds and pennies to one side in an account to build up before either OP all or half. I'm going to think about it for now.
I also now have a long term savings account (it got depleated during my maternity leaves!) which feels nice and I'll keep adding to that too. Its intended for emergencies but hopefully i won't need it!MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
Im hoping to be mf by 45, but something sounds so good at being mf by 40.
I would love to meet that target but i doubt i can. Maybe i should crunch some numbers and see.....
Nsd for the past few days. Spend today though- need a gift for a party tomorrow (dd1) and drinks for a outdoor big surprise party today. Soft drinks though as i shall be driving and leaving early evening with my girls (daddy gets to stay and play!).MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
