Happy New Year tootoo...hope you have a lovely 2014.
We saw in the new year (well apart from the fireworks at midnight) watching an episode of a really terrible Indian TV show. I don't know why we watch it - it is truly dreadful - hopefully it won't predict our TV habits for the year. At least we had Sherlock last night.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Happy New Year Ed and Mouche!
V quick update - haggled with broadband supplier = £15 per month saving
A few spendy days but not too spendy. Barely any sales shopping as I haven't needed anything.
Had a small shop this week but this should hopefully last us a few weeks with just the addition of fruit, veg, bread and milk.
I have made laundry gloop this afternoon. I'm not sure it has 'worked' as its a little runny, but it is still warm so we shall see!MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
OP of £5 made this morning.
My laundry gloop now looks very gloomy - excited to try it (it doesn't take much these days!).
Freezer is still full to bursting and so are the cupboards so I really only need a few fresh things this week. I'll keep saving the pennies and when the month is up any spare will be OP'd.
I need to ring sky and see if I can haggle a better deal too.....MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
Op yday - 83p and today 82p TT
Having a down day re: monies and all the 'pots' I have. I try to remind myself that actually having money should not worry me!
Paid my last instalment for our short break and hubby to pay his before mid feb. I can now save pennies for my spends, which i have already started.
Cancelled sky . hoped they would offer me something but the best they could do was £2 off a month. hubby is not too happy but £50 a month for sky is ridiculous. We barely watch at night so it's mainly sports and kids that are watched. Unfortunately we can't get any other tv service here....MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
Morning TooToo, I'm pretty sure that I've read somewhere that SKY often contact you just before being cut off to try and persuade you, so fingers crossed DH keeps it but at a much reduced rate.
Re the pots. I know it can seem complicated having multiple savings pots, but only advice I can give is 'peace of mind'. You don't have to scramble for money if you've saved for car service, or tax etc, if it has its own dedicated pot. I find it much easier and has removed the 'rob Peter to pay Paul' act I used to do.

i think you're right. maybe i need a small 'me' pot to help me feel like i actually have some pennies to spend on things i will/do need such as clothes etc?
hope you're right about sky, the girls will be ok it's dh and the football that won't go down well
Although I cannot view our mortgage balance online, I've put together with a spreadsheet with estimates based on our last statement on to help me keep motivated and see how its going down.MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -

Groceries = small spend today £1.10 on milk.
Diesel = £40 which should hopefully last until next weekend.
£3.90 TT to mortgage, £11.55 in TT's since the 5th Jan and I've not even noticed the pennies missing
Should try and get wet to do the meter readings too and see how we are doing on that front.MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
Sounds like you're off to a great start tootoo.
I too keep 'pots' of things, but I keep all my annual expenses together - so car tax, insurance, tv licence, water etc all go into one pot. I've never had a problem so far.M3 Dec2015 #160 Target £150,000 (BU £155000)0
