I have had electricity from BG for just over a year. Had frustrating problems in March & April with notification of an increase in DD amount from £25 to £38 even though I was in credit. One guy I spoke to said the computer had adjusted the payments because it had been cold recently! It took months to sort out although they did give me some compensation and paid one of my DDs. I just can't get my head around the bill and statements. They never seem to have everything synchronised-the bill date, the meter reading (or estimate), the amount you have actually paid. I am apparently now on the Click 2 price but my latest bill downloaded from the website shows at least 3 different tarifs for different periods of time!
I am sure it's not me being stupid!
I think I will go back to quarterly billing-at least you know where you are

i ( and most likely others) switched from scottish power as a way of letting scottish power know that i was fed up with them keep launching new plans for the same method of payment and not automatically making its cheapest prices available to all.
now that scottish power appear to have finally reduced its prices ( albeit not made its cheapest prices automatically available to all its customers) being as their customer services and billing is excellent in my experience once ive received switch cashback ill review the situation again based on prices and my experiences with british gas.

This may sound dumb, but can you check which tariff you are currently on on-line? I can't see it on any of the on-line bills?

You are absolutely right. The only way to check is to look at the unit prices on the bill and then check them back to BG pricelists. Given that Click Energy 2 & 3 have identical prices even this method will not differentiate between those two.

Interestingly I got a paper bill today from BG (they send one before online billing becomes effective) and this simply referred to the tariff as "Click Energy".

This mirrors my experiences and sentiments exactly.

PS. BG started supplying me in first week of May, so I'm hoping for my cashback at same time as you - will post update in due course.

    Have I been diddled?
From the online tariff on the BG site it looks like from 31st May the new price for electricty for my region (SP) is 12.002 and 7.670?

I've had so much hassle with BG over the past year trying to get set up properly on clickenergy, i am this close to switching.............

I would suggest ringing BG and asking them to confirm which Click you are on.
I have now switched from CE2 to CE3 because the comparison sites suggest CE3 is cheaper however I believe you have to make the change yourself through the BG website as BG will not automatically switch you from one tariff to another.

im on paperless billing online management, i asked british gas through the contact us facility yesterday evening to upgrade me to click 3 and received this reply today, anybody in southwest region might find the unit prices for click 3 usefull, ive also gone back to money supermarket and pointed out to them that their comparisons based on my usages ( approx 400.00 per year electric, approx 20.00 per year gas) showed click energy 3 to be 15.00 a year cheaper than click 2 contrary to their belief that click 2 and click 3 prices are the same

Thank you for your enquiry to house.co.uk regarding your accounts. I am sorry for the delay in my reply.

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you with the non reply to your emails and the lack of communication from British Gas. We always aim to provide an excellent customer experience and I am disappointed that you did not receive it on this occasion.

I write this email to confirm I have applied our click energy 3 propositions to your accounts today as per your email request, below are the rates you will pay with effect from the 28 June 2007.

    Gas

    Tier 1 – 4.346
    Tier 2 – 2.210

    Electric

    Tier 1 – 11.398
    Tier 2 - 8.243

    Thank you for your E-mail,

Your cash back is due to be paid on the 5th August 2007. Please allow three to five working days for the BACS transfer to go through.

    Many Thanks,

    Hi there

Just wondering whether your cashback has materialised yet as per the above timescale? I switched a week or so before you and am still waiting for mine. Thought I would check again how yours is progressing before I really start to hassle them.

    Cheers

snap re sharing info as we went along

ive already switched to click 3 as some comparison sites showed click 3 to be 15.00 a year cheaper than click 2 for me.

i did a comparison yesterday here http://www.energyhelpline.com/ for me it showed british gas click 3 as being cheaper than scottish power even though a month ago comparison sites showed SP as cheaper by about 30.00 a year, ill sit and wait for time being and wait for nice switch incentive to be available from another switching site. ;)
