LED and Plasma reflect the light if facing a window while LCD does not.
This is rubbish. It depends on how glossy the screen is and how good any reflective coatings are. LED televisions are LCD televisions with LCD backlights instead of cold cathode backlights as traditionally used in LCD screens. The screens of LCD and LED televisions are the same technology. Only the backlights differ. Plasma screens tend to be more reflective than LCD/LED.

My Samsung LE40C650 LCD TV has a glossy screen, it apparently improves black levels.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

LED TV's are LCD LEDs are used for the backlights. Plasmas are power hungry.
OLED is the future but a tiny bit expensive and not yet available.

I wouldn't buy another plasma, it's replacement will be LCD

All the LED TV's I have seen in peoples homes including my own reflect the light so I am only talking partial rubbish then?

I bought LCD about a year ago, 40 inch Sony 1080p HD & Smart TV for £350.

I took the view that 3D wasn't needed here, and whilst LED would save a few quid a year on electricity, it wouldn't justify spending £100 or £150 more at that time.

I haven't checked prices more recently

smjxm09 - you're not talking complete rubbish, only partial!
    This is certainly rubbish:

Reflections has nothing to do with LCD, LED, Plasma. It's to do with the surface of the screen.
ALL plasmas have glass screens, glossy. They're often coated in anti-glare stuff, be careful how you clean them.
MANY LCD/LED screens are matte, SOME are glossy.
Glossy screens will reflect in a bright room.
Matte screens will give you a big white blob on your screen instead of a reflection.
Badly placed windows or TVs are the problem.
The shininess does help black stuff look blacker.

I never said it was the LED technology that caused the reflection.
  • If you are a fan of fast moving sports/action films etc and not afraid of bigger leccy bills then it's plasma every day of the week.

Going for a big plasma which offers all the above would probably cost you about £10 a year more on your electricity bill - well worth the cost. I've been running large screen LG plasma TV's for years with no complaints.

Is it really only about £10 extra. I've read they use 4 times the power?
I have a pioneer plasma ( was lucky enought to get one of the last ones I think) it's fantastic.
