Can I send the item out yet?

Umm your phone isn't an E900 is it?
Although if she wanted to pull that scam she could just open an item not as described dispute and send you back a brick.
But the fact that you didn't get charged by paypal for recieving the payment means that it was funded from a paypal balance - rather than a CC or DD card which you wouldn't have been able to except without upgrading your paypal account.
So at least there's no chance of a CC chargeback.
Yes, it is an E900. But I have photographs of the phone I am sending, so if she thinks she can claim I sent her a dummy phone, she can f off. If I can see that she purchased a dummy phone off ebay, then surely everyone else can lol. I may send her a message alerting her to the fact I know this.0 -

The problem is in theory any buyer can raise an item not as described dispute through paypal send a package (containing pretty much anything) back to you via a recorded service and paypal will refund the buyer when they produce proof of your signature. (Read about this being done on other forums).
Your photos wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.
But like I said you weren't charged for recieving the paypal payment so your buyer definitely didn't use a credit card. If they had and pulled the above stunt paypal would definitely find in the buyers favour because paypal would then be left open to a subsequent CC chargeback.
For a balance funded payment they are more likely to listen to your side of the story (i.e you could point out the dummy phone purchase).
But I wouldn't worry this scam is one a buyer could only really pull off once or twice so don't imagine they would be pulling one on a comparitively low value item.
She probably just bought a dummy phone so her toddler can have one just like mummys. :rolleyes:0 -
Yes, this is what I believe to have happened as well, as she also has bought soft toys, but you never know.
I have just included on the cover letter in the parcel, that for her information, I have noted the IMEI and serial numbers of the handset, and that I am aware she has purchased a dummy phone. That I don't want to cause offence, but I must include this info due to previous hassle on ebay.
I know it sounds harsh and that I am possibly accusing her of thinking about scamming me, but I just want to cover myself, just incase.0 -
Hi
I would exercise some caution here. I have just had a similar experience, money appearing in my PayPal account, sent goods, then being informed that the account used to purchase my goods was a stolen one and the money paid was withdrawn and returned.
Result
Me - £250 out of pocket.
Advice
Certainly only send phone if it is to a confirmed paypal address then you may bet some seller protection.
Be wary of anyone who asks for a very speedy delivery, it maybe a scammer.!!0 -
Well, it says it is a confirmed address.
I haven't been able to send it as yet, as I sent the buyer a message Monday asking her to confirm her address (as it seems one seller has sent it to a wrong address) and haven't heard back yet.0
