Mine still shows 3000 and odd but I've noticed mine sometimes can be an hour or so behind others0 -

Our Home Bargains has a chiller fridge with bacon, cheese, yogurt, butter etc.
Last week we got butter for 99p so we got another pack this week. Fortunatley I checked it before we went through the till. The packs are now 200g - 50g smaller than the normal sized pack but still 99p this week
Needless to say the shelf edge signs were the same - 250g for 99p“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
For T v A shops I got some Persil Small and mighty 28 wash. £5.00 each in Asda or 3 for £10.00 against £6.50 in Tesco. The persil 20 liquitabs are in same offer and same price in Tesco. So a PP of £9.50 for 3.
Can confirm it's still comparing OK today and you'll get a £9.50 PP back on this.
Was useful to use my £4 WYS £30 and a £10 PP and rinse and repeat a few Dr O's as well as stock up on Tomatoes. The stockpile has now reached 102 :eek:
The good news is the new batch of tins have a BBE Sept 2014, whereas previously they were all 2013. As I get through 2-3 tins per week that's a whole years supply sorted all FOC
Did two shops a T v A for the Persil etc and a T v M for the Dr O's which are also still comparing at £1.29.0 -
Also in Asda in the reduced freezer they had saver price packs of 2 Chicken and Veg pies for 32p each - I suppose these would be good if your chest freezer is very low and you need something cheap to pad it out or if you are about to have hoards of visitors that need a cheap meal and you could do loads of nice veg with them“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. To add to my last post about that poor lady who committed suicide. I truly feel that (from what i've read), she was on the breadline. Of course, we don't know the personal details. But if she was scraping by and I'm sure most of us know what that is like. Then I feel that had she found this thread, and other similar threads, say, a year ago, her financial situation would have been a lot better. If you are savvy, then you can save a huge amount of money using some of the tips and tip offs on this thread.
Since I have been reading this thread, I have saved so much on my shopping bills and presents for people. I hardly ever spend much at Christmas or Birthdays. I often get bargains and use wombles for shopping.
Without this thread, and of course, the people who post and share on here, I know that we too, would be ijn a poor state. You read every day, about people having to pay for their groceries with credit cards. (i've had to do the same) but not for a long time.
Of course, there are the scroungers of the world, and they always seem to come out on top. I know I would not want the job of shifting out the scroungers from the genuinely needy.
Thank you for all the posts following on from mine. We may not always agree, but it has given a lot of food for thought.0 -
You need to chase it up for your MIL. The council has the authority to give a higher banding for folk who are not utilising all their bedrooms. In our area, you get a Band C if you have one spare bedroom, and Band A if you have two or more spare bedrooms.
Also, the bidding system is much fairer and they specifically have x number of properties each week that are solely for people over 45, over 60 and those with medical problems, so the whole world and his wife cannot bid on such properties.
Authorities are doing this on a month by month basis, so they divide the pot by 12 and then allocate that out. Unfortunately, a lot of authorities have used up most of their allowances because a lot of people are struggling.
Anyway, though this bedroom tax is debatable, it is working in a positive way as well. The number of young people being "thrown" out by their parents because "they are 16 now and can get a free council house like we did 30 years ago" is diminishing as the parents end up having to fork out the bedroom tax. And bone idle people who thought they could get away without ever working are having to rethink their attitude. When The Fun Stops Stop0 -

They always had a different system for properties for older people or disabled, no one would have been allocated these under the old system either. The bidding is very difficult for non pc literate older people who still want to be in charge of their lives and decisions.
It appears to be a 'computer says no' operation now and actually speaking to anyone to make sense of the system is difficult.0
