I pre cook in the microwave to soften and save oven time, coat in olive oil and salt, place on foiled baking tray

Also, put them in a hot oven at 200c for 30 minutes

Mine come out crisp that way

How you open them can also have an effect. You need to bash them open or squeeze them open if you have cut a cross in the top. This allows the steam to escape quickly and gives you a crisper skin and fluffier inside.

I fork mine, spray them with FryLight and put in a hot oven straight onto the shelf.

When I take them out I bash them on the worktop before cutting - perfect everytime!

I was given these instructions from OS a few months ago, as well as rubbing the salt in to the skins, however I did'nt like the idea of all that salt, so now I don't bother with it and the Frylight works everytime.:j

I always give mine about 7 minutes in the microwave to start them off and then pop em into the oven on gas 7 until skin is crispy and inside soft.

Timings depend on the size, but it really cuts them time down by loads.

  • When i want one for lunch, i.e. not waiting for hours, I stab them with a fork and bung them in the microwave on full (check microwave booklet, usually a few mins). Then whack them in the oven to crisp up the skins if you want crispy skins.

Takes on average 20mins or so (but we have mega death microwave that can cook anything instantly)

    Hope that helps. :p
