Money Grabbing Vet!!!

but why not get insurance in the first place.
If you love a pet so much why not get it?0 -
1 of my dogs is 11 years old so that would be £1320 based on £10 a month
Another dog is 5 so £600
Daisy is 10 months now so £100
In total thats £2020
Daisy's Vet bill from the vet that did the caring was £350. There would be a £50 at least excess. I have probably spent another £300 in the lifetimes of my dogs so far on treatment other than innoculations which arent covered anyway.
So, I have £1420 left.
I know the troll will have a counter argument but he/she is on ignore list anyway.0 -

It's fair enough to have that opinion but I think you could put it across without trying to offend people by saying that they're somehow bad people just because they disagree. We've never had pet insurance for our pets but IMHO that doesn't make us bad pet owners, we've always taken them to the vet's and paid for whatever has been needed. Overall it's been much much cheaper for us to do that than get pet insurance and our pets are no worse off at all."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

If that happened here then the OP would be in the exact same position of not having enough cashflow at that instant even with insurance.
There's an ignore button?!!
(off to find it now - Dave Brooker will be going on it too, probably along with c_ronaldo who I've never seen a worthwhile post from in the thousands he/she's made!)
Ahhh..... quietness in the forums.0 -
If I ignore it then they cant make me think outside of my myopic view.
Very bright timmne, perhaps burying your head in the sand is a viable alternative too.0 -
Indeed, I can imagine that said poster is probably on a lot of ignore lists, mine included.
mine too!!
to add someone to the ignore list, go into the user control panel and then select buddy/ignore lists from the left hand side.
you can disagree with people without being an idiot!! i couldn't block Dave Brooker when i tried though as there are problems with people whose names start with capital letters - but i know that they're working on that!!:happyhear0 -

Just wanted to add my bit to this. Firstly Smartsuit it's lovely to see your little dog is recovered, she's such a sweet looking little thing. Secondly on the subject of pet insurance, I was speaking to an old friend last night and she told me a sad story of how her lovely staff was attacked in the park last february by what she called pitbulls but as far as I know they're banned so not sure what they were. The poor dog had several open wounds, a crushed vertebra in his back and permanent damage to his hind legs. It cost a fortune to get him on the mend, now he has painkillers and when she runs out she has to replace them at £60 a time. She's on the second lot since feb now. They've also been told if his back or legs start to give him real trouble they will have to consider putting him to sleep. It made me cry. When I get my next dog I will be insuring it "just in case" and if that means I waste £2000 over the dogs lifetime then so be it, I just want to be able to give it the treatment it needs if there's ever an emergency. I'm not slating anyone who chooses otherwise but personally I won't have another dog until I know we can afford the insurance too.Smokefree since 27-9-20070
