Try Cerberus app. One fee covers 5 devices for life!
Fee??? This isn't an ios app

Why pay for an app when there are free ones that do the same job

I use Cerberus too and it covers three phones. It comes highly recommended and the one time fee means you can cover up to 5 devices for life.

The amount of extra features makes it worth paying for. I've been using it for a couple of years covering three devices.

A small price to pay for the greater chance of getting your device(s) back should they go astray, I'd say.

Previously I used McAfee which took over and ruined a perfectly good security app. Although, that was more expensive and turned out to be rubbish compared to Cerberus.

Although if you just want to track people around the world then use Google Latitude. :)

Nine_Lives post number #7 basically describes the precise use of Google Latitude, that sounds like the app for the job, and it's free!

Yes perhaps Nine_Lives would actually return and confirm if he is looking for an app that simply tracks the whereabouts of friends/family or if he is looking for an app that would track down a lost/stolen phone.

I'm not sure i know the difference here.

Surely the phone is required in both cases - & therefore it'd be the phone that's being tracked & not the person. Without embedding some device under someones skin, how would you track the person without the phone?

I'm not trying to be smart here, but i don't quite understand the angle you're coming from.

The person will have the phone on them at all times. Like the case with Apple .... i could log in to iCloud with the relatives details & becuase they have "Find my iPhone" installed i can see exactly where in the world their phone (& therefore they) is.

We were wanting the same thing for the Galaxy S3 - which is why i made the thread.

Was going to have a good look into all suggestions at the weekend.

Many of the apps being suggested (and I'm sure they will work as you want them to) are mainly for tracking phones which have been lost or stolen. They will often run secretly in the background and send data back to the owner so that they could be located. It needs to work from a PC as the phone is obviously lost/stolen. In essence this is what "Find my iPhone" does.

However iOS also has another app called "Find my Friends". This was installed on the owner's phone and after sending out friends' requests, you could simply see the location of everyone of your friends/family. No need for a PC as you had the phone. However it only worked for iOS friends/family.

However if you had Android friends/family you could also install Google Latitude on your iPhone and again with their permission see their whereabouts using your phone. No need for PC.

So if you're out and about and your wife is out and about, you can see where each other is without the need of a PC.

Find My iPhone gets installed on the phone. An account is set up. The person gives us their details & we can see where they are in the world from a PC at home.
Nine_Lives wants to track people, not lost phones.

I know that. However most people seemed to be giving him apps that track lost phones.

This is because people read just the title and fail to read the OP.

True. The title could have been clearer.
